Hi there my Hivean friends and followers!
We have just had another freezing wave here in Krakow, Poland with temperatures hovering way below zero during both days and nights. It was actually so cold for the past few days that even the Wisla River got largely frozen. You know that rivers don´t freeze as easily as for example lakes or some other bodies of still water since the current prevents the water molecules from freezing but when it´s really cold for more consecutive days, even rivers can freeze and that´s exactly what happened to Wisla here in Krakow.
I heard from the locals that this winter is the coldest one in long years so I believe the sight of the frozen Wisla River that we just happened to witness is quite unusual. I recently made a few little trips to the river to take some photos there so that I can share these rare views with you here on my blog ;)
I hoped you liked the pictures of the frozen Wisla River. I must admit I am not very happy about the quality of them though. It was either super cloudy with barely any daylight or, vice versa, totally sunny when the contrast between the snow and ice lit by the sharp winter sun and the dark shades was just too much for my old cellphone camera to handle.
Also, at one point, the river was frozen almost completely in certain sections, covered with these cool looking little icebergs like somewhere in the Antarctica but unfortunately, I didn´t have my cellphone with me that day and when I came there the next day, it already melted away :( Normally, I would say something like "hopefully next time" but I won´t because frankly, I have already had enough of the snow and ice and I cannot wait for spring to come :D
