Some of nature's other residents.

Insects and other crawlies, plus even a mouse, made its appearance.

Whenever I sit with a mug of coffee, I always use the time to look a bit closer for action in the surrounds, and I am often rewarded with some beauties. This was such a day, as the place crawled with new spring season life. A good thing is that my wife always has feeding stock in her bag or in her pockets. At times, we get the idea that the birds start to follow us when we arrive, and then they sit around waiting for the fun to start. The Cape Sparrows especially, and if she takes a bit long then they will even jump up on the table to demand food. Now this is not at our house, but at a wine farm close to us, where we often pop in for coffee.
So, come and see.

First up was a female Carpenter bee, then dragonflies, followed by Robins. A mouse and a skink were also in the show.

A male Cape Skimmer (Orthetrum julia capicola), and his female below, appeared to signal us that summer is on its way.

There was a Cape Robin-chat couple feeding at their nest, and the wife chucked out some grated cheese for them. Sadly, I don't want to go near the nest, as the Robins will stop the feeding if they think that their nest is endangered, and then the babies will die.

The birds look for protein to feed their babies, such as insects, small lizards, and items like cheese.

Now look what was peeping out in the gap below the bush.
Yes, a mouse was scouting the scene where the Robins were feeding, and I had to have patience, as I knew that sooner or later the mouse would come out to grab a piece of cheese.

Yep! I was right, as the mouse emerged from hiding and started sniffing around.

I could only get this shot of the mouse grabbing something, as it turned and scattered back to its hiding place at high speed.

A Skink lizard also scouted around for some bugs in the sun.

And like I said, that's how it is here, and sitting in nature, instead of in front of a TV is so much better. Data seems to be the big thing now, and mobile phones are a sure way for people to simply ignore nature, as they rather walk around staring at the screens of their phones. Not only that, but the phones also present a big danger for drivers on the roads, as we see them trying to type on the phones while they are driving at the same time. So yes, we are hooked on our phones, and even though we run the danger of stiff fines and confiscated phones, we still ignore it. So, believe me, it is way better to concentrate and to stash the phones while we drive. Or choose to walk in nature!
Think about it.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and the story.
