While placing a cover on our newly purchased bed, a wonderful opportunity presented itself to capture my wife’s beautiful smile. However, the image captured seemed to simultaneously provide a beautiful l prescriptive message that made our task of turning an apartment into a home all the more enjoyable.

Our reluctant relocation to Shenzhen from Chongqing has brought about as many challenges as one can possibly imagine. The arrival of several boxes containing all our personal belongings stood like mini skyscrapers in our living room, and we the agitated kaiju stomped and bumped our way through them, leveling them into smaller heaps once their contents were emptied.

The tasks were arduous and even lead to me becoming sick due in equal parts to the change in temperature and the stress that comes from trying to start over in a new city. Our rearranging, packing and sorting would carry over into the following days, but this particular moment seemed to present an unintentionally golden realization, and that’s that the greatest of tasks can easily be overcome when one has the right person working at your side.

My wife resting her head on her small little hands while smiling at the task at hand, transformed the arduous work into a priceless memory, and taught me that sometimes the best way to deal with life’s problems is to stare them in the face and laugh :).
