So If you couldn’t tell from the title, this post is gonna be all about my recent trip to Poland with @letothehobbit
This week was one of the best weeks I’ve had in a long while, and I got to meet @agaczytawszedzie for the first time as well!
So I’ll be honest, the whole week feels like a bit of a blur now but I’ll take you through some of the key parts of the trip. So never having set foot in Poland before, was led to believe, like many others, the stereotype that it is primarily a cold country. Imagine my surprise when the temperature was above 30 degrees everyday of the trip. We landed at Krakow airport, and spent a couple of hours looking around the town centre. We saw a dragon! Obviously it wasn’t a real dragon, but it did breathe fire, so I’ll let you draw your own conclusions on that one. Whilst we we there we also went down a tower called the Dragon’s Lair. Or at least that’s what I think it was called. Essentially, it was an old tower with a long spiralling staircase that took you down into an old dungeon. There wasn’t much to see down there, but it was interesting to see how they had repurposed it to look like a cave.
One of the things we did whilst we were there was visit some ruins of a castle. I really enjoyed looking around this, and it was cool to see how there were some random parts of the castle still standing. We looked up into what I guess used to be a stairwell, and you could see exactly where the stairs used to be in the brick. I was tempted to try and climb up, but considering the stairs had already fallen down it didn’t quite seem like it was worth the risk. Out in the courtyard, the was a part where we had to go down to what seemed like underneath the castle. As you could imagine, natural light was very minimal. The room that we went into had a hole in the ceiling, which I believe used to have coal thrown down it; I’m pretty certain that room was used for storing coal.
On our trip, we also paid a visit to a castle that was still in use. We had to walk up a long hill to get there, but the view from the top was amazing. Whilst we were up there, we took a couple of pictures in some medieval torture devices and I also managed to have a go at some archery. I have to say, it is much harder than it’s made to look on movies. I only had three shots, but I managed to hit the target all 3 times. Whilst we were up there, they tried to fire off some of the old cannons, however getting old has made them a little bit temperamental and unfortunately, they didn’t fire. But we did get to see a performance of an old dance. I can’t tell you when abouts it was from; quite frankly, I didn’t pay attention to any dates, but it was definitely a style of dance from a loooooong time ago.
In Poland, we did a tonne of walking. Some of this was done at a recreation of an old polish village. I don’t think it was a specific village, more a reimagined version of what one may have looked like. This was pretty interesting to look round. I particularly enjoyed going inside the windmill and seeing how it worked. The found the whole village itself to be quite an enjoyable experience. We have a few things like it in England, but I’ve never really lived closed enough to warrant going to any of them.
I would love to write more about my trip, but like I said earlier, the whole week pretty much blends into one, and I can’t really remember what happened when or anything like that. I really enjoyed my time in Poland, and would recommend it to anyone who was thinking of going. Also the exchange rate of GBP to Zł was really good, meaning it was a cheap trip as well.
I am waiting for your next arrival! 🥰
