Bangladeshi brides need to realize that they will obtain a lot of wonderful memories through the application of Hindu bridal photography. The activity doesn’t mean just point a camera and hit record, it means establishing an emotional, psychological, and cultural connection with what is being taken photos of. Hindu wedding photographs are quite a difference in terms of colors, looks, and rituals which can be a big problem when photographing the events.
Other things that can be seen and found on the bride like the dress, or her jewelry and other accessories is easy to spot. When I take photos for the Hindu bridal ceremony, it always means taking photographs that I will have in the best possible light for years to come. My main focus is to capture the occasions the bride applies the mehndi on her hands, the happy atmosphere of applying the mehndi, and the feelings she gets when wearing the turmeric string. This photo, also, aims to showcase the bride along with her connection to the family by using the camera.
The overall event of the wedding, where a fire witnessing ceremony is given, and the donation of vermilion is explained, is an interlocking story. Therefore I want to convey these storylines through images in order to make the message stronger. When the images are taken they need to be made to look appealing in a sense to the viewers that the photographs convey the right emotional feelings.
In this way, the camera has become a tool of interpretation, not in the ordinary sense but to an extent that it has evolved into a canvas of observation and, consequently, the role of observing itself in creating new works and the art of culture as well as the spirit of life.
This is how I view it when I start capturing a photo of a newlywed Hindu brides: As an operator of a camera, my primary responsibility was to follow the laws governing photography for the event, but I also had a personal stake in this art. Every picture, including the pictures, that is photo, I think that picture is a piece of art where tradition and art coexist.
