Hello everyone!
I haven't been here for too long. Maybe I wouldn't be writing today if I hadn't tried to think of a topic I could write about, but if I could fit it in with pictures of deer.
How did I even come up with this idea? Many of my colleagues, friends, and acquaintances come from different parts of the world.
We often talk about our customs, culture, food, music, and also about stories from ancient times that are known in our nation.
So a friend mentioned the legend of the deer with golden horns and suddenly it came back to my mind.
So let me start. I hope you will like it :)
The first topic is horns. It is interesting that the males of all species of deer, except for the smallest water deer, have horns. The exception is female reindeer that have horns.
The horns of young deer are covered with skin and fur.
The ancient folk believed that deer horns fall off every year and new ones grow.
Horns are a symbol that tries to beautify death, but also a symbol of rebirth, resurrection, and immortality.
In many nations, the deer is a symbol of grace, kindness, and gentleness.
Deer with golden horns.
A custom that comes from Serbia.
On July 12, the people go to Petrova Gora (Peter's Mountain). In the glade, where the sacrificial stone stands, they offer a sacrifice to a deer with golden horns. One year, the people forgot about the sacrifice of the deer. A deer with golden horns, he ordered the people to sacrifice him. And so since then, every year on the same date, a sheep whose horns are decorated with flowers is sacrificed as a sign of gratitude.
One place in Croatia that I find beautiful and where you will literally see deer at any time of the day is located at the very end of the island of Cres. The place is called Punta Križa.
I spent many holidays there. After dinner, all the children would gather at the church and play as long as they could stand on their feet.
One year a white deer appeared. There were stories of how some of the local villagers fed him on a bottle. To be honest, he was really wonderful. I didn't know then that he was actually an albino. Over the course of several summers, new individuals would appear, and we never saw the older ones again.
Two weeks ago, we visited our deer friends. We brought them carrots and apples.
Most of the visitors bring them dry bread, so we decided to bring them some treats.
This gentleman was particularly pleased with the apples.
He didn't even refuse carrots.
The sweet smell of apples invited his friends to come.
Some were a little insecure and kept their distance.
This little man spends all the small change from his wallet to buy treats for the deer.
Since they warned us that male deer are a little aggressive during mating, the little man decided to leave them treats here.
And finally, they will leave the bread for another occasion. Now they are sweetened with apples and carrots.
If you know a story related to deer from your area, I will be happy to read it😍😍
Thank you for your time, until the next writing.👋

Deers are indeed magnificent animals, among the Celts, the deer was considered a symbol of fertility and nowdays is considered as a symbol of balance and peace.
One of the very few animals I’ve never seen before
