The last two years have been a challenge in more ways than one, so this year was a bit of a mixture. This selection of photographs are broken down by location, trip or event with a cpmbination being captured on my Sony A7R3, iPhone 11 and more recently my iPhone 13.
I have also tried out a number of different applications for editing my photos apart from good old Lightroom all of the time.
My marketplaces for photography remained much the same until the latter part of the year (see links at bottom of the article). I am now exploring the dizzy world of NFT photography and computational art.
Churches Project
The idea for this project was realised last year (2020) whilst we were locked down and as were able to venture out a bit further again, it was possible to get some photos once more. Spring this year was a lovely opportunity.
Finchampstead on the Hampshire/Berkshire border. I later found out it is built on the site of an old Roman fort plus it is not far from the Devil's Highway, an old Roman Road from London to Silchester. A topic I am exploring in my research at the moment.
Also in Hampshire is the picturesque church, Rotherwick. Taken as Spring was just blossoming !
Osborne House, Isle of Wight
I didn't take a lot of photos between March and June, probably because I had started my job, first holiday, lockdown had ended and we escaped to the Isle of Wight to stay with some great friends of ours.
Festival of Speed, Goodwood
My friend Lee had tickets for FoS from 2020 and like a lot of things, it has been postponed an then his original guest, his Dad was unable to go. Lee had a spare ticket, he sent out a shoutout on another Social Media platform that I shalln't name here! I was the first to respond.
Oh my word, what a freaking awesome day it was, I loved it, never been to it before. Naturally I took a load of photos whilst I was there. Quite keen to go again in 2022, I must admit.
Loads more photos to share on this particular trip, it warrants a blog of it's own, it will be great to share my tips for composition and editing. I always enjoy photographing cars at car shows. I love cars in fact.
Carisbrook Castle, Isle of Wight
Steve and Belinda's Wedding
It's been a long time since I shot a wedding. I have shot a dozen over the years and in this case it was for my friends Steve and Belinda. No pressure whatsoever!
It was an absolute gem of a day. I loved this particular shot of the two of them, it reflected their happy-go-lucky character.
Cornwall, Looe and Polperro
We went on a smashing holiday in early September this year, my wife, myself, the children, now in the late twenties, early thirties and our first granddaughter Aurelia.
Photographs were taken on Sony A7R3 and the Mavic Mini 2 drone, 2nd and fourth image.
RNLI practice drill for which I have more photos to share in another post.
Aerial shot of Talland Bay, near our holiday cottage and now a new favourite of mine!

Parsons Cove, near Lansallos Bay
Plymouth Steps
Last year was the 400th anniversary of the Mayflower voyage but it wasn't until this year we managed to take a trip of our own to the steps.
I'll leave you with a tantalising clue - my full name is Nicholas Euan Brewster Lewis. My late Grandmother was always convinced that this old family name bore some connection with William Brewster, who was one of the Pilgrim Fathers. I'll never know for sure but this is a story for another time here on Hive...
Part 2 will come out later this week. Still need to write it! lol
