Takedao Art Event 2022!

in Photography Lovers2 years ago (edited)

I had the great privilege to both participate and document this multi-discipline art exhibition!

This was the 14th time that the event has been organized by Mr. Charles-Eric Billard!

Thank you for your hard work!

This event was held in a decommissioned rail tunnel between Takarazuka city and Sanda city in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. While this track once linked the two cities together, it has been replaced by a more modern rail line, and now is a part of a hiking trail system.

The event information pamphlet:

The tunnel was very dark, this added to the ambiance as each artist or performer was able to light their work in exactly the way that the wanted it to be lit.

I had a few technical difficulties (tangled ropes) that took a bit of work to get worked out. Unfortunately, I missed the first few performances. I'm sure they were wonderful and next time I'll be sure to arrive earlier and set things up better, faster and perhaps even completely different from what I did this time!

I had one very large composite print exhibited using a tensegrity based frame:

None of the metal poles are touching each other, the whole thing is held up by tension in the ropes and compression along the poles. Quite light weight and rigid for being 2.6 meters high and 3.6 meters long! I was very happy that the structure supported itself but not so happy with other things, I'll endeavor to address those problems in the future.

It was really great to see the reactions of friends and others to the large photo!

The other artists! This wasn't a solo exhibition and everyone put in a lot of work for their performances:

sPiNel dance performance

Yoshimasa Hiraishi and Takeshi Sakurai drums and digeridoo

The acoustics of the tunnel were really great!
The audience enjoyed it very much!

The lamp they used was really beautiful:

Monkiefeet and Enjambmental music rap

Kevbohk and Osho acoustic music

Pleks Ortem feat Monkiefeet music

It's a pretty intimate venue, sometimes the audience gets involved(it was a friendly pointing finger :P )

Though dark, the numerous portable lights made for some interesting photo opportunities:

So happy the Sony camera has such a great ISO range!

Plastic Mantra (Charles-Eric Billard and Jerry Gordon) music visual projection performance

One of my favourite images from the whole event! Thank you for hauling the smoke machine all the way out there!

葉月 Hazuki dance Sachi music

Chiakihiko music: Electric guitar

I really liked how he chose to illuminate only parts of the guitar, amp, and his face. It was like watching an album cover come to life to play music!

Nessie electronic music

Played some great music with good beats, though I'd title the photo "Cyberpunk Surgeon"

MID Music music

A few mishaps occurred which lead to this group performing last but in the end it all came together and music was made!
