Macro Phone Photography #1 - Flower and Coin

in Photography Lovers3 years ago (edited)

Good afternoon hive community. After a long time of stress and unfortunate events, I am glad to be back and active again in this community. Not much I was able to do during this time, but I want to start sharing a few photographs I was able to capture with an iPhone 13 pro (macro photography) - This is an attempt at best, not by far the quality equalize a DSLR camera, but is something that you could have in your pocket to capture macro.

This is a British one pence coin, with a diameter of 20.3mm. The image was taken at 1x with a few centimeter distance from the object

The following image was taken at a closer distance, no huge difference from the first image.

The images suffer lose of quality from slight post-processing, bad lighting and maybe little shaky shands.

At 3x with the iPhone 13 pro, you are able to capture at a much closer distance, but with a massive lose of quality due to digital zooming. Still, 3x is better than 0.5x cropped.

I realise that the quality may not be very great, but I was surprised to see how much detail this phone camera can capture on such a close distance from the coin.

But if you want, let me share a few more photographs of some flowers with you. Taken by me with the same phone but in better lighting conditions.

As a non-related 'bonus', here I share with you a mosquito captured on my car windshield (from inside)

Once more, I am glad to be back, and to mention, all these images were taken by me with an iPhone 13 pro (max), RAW format and edited in darkroom.
Thank you for all your support.

Glad you are back again @lovelyscape 👋🏻😊
Aren’t phones nowadays just amazing, what they can do… photography wise.
Since my DSLR camera died it’s my only means of photography. So I’m truly testing its limits the last 3 years.
Love your flower macros. For the coin, try to put it in a stand/ tripod the image will be sharp.
Have a great weekend!

Hello littlebee. I am glad to be back.
It is unfortunate to hear that your DSLR died :(. Phone photography can be another mean to capture the beauty of this world. Make sure you capture in RAW to allow yourself for post-processing.

I know I was supposed to use a tripod for the coin, but I didn’t had one at hand. Will do it in the future.
Thanks again for your appreciation! Wishing you all the best.

I can imagine 😉

To many trips abroad, cold, humidity, hot changes… it just couldn’t coupe anymore after the last trip to Cuba.
Saving up for a new one, but other more important things go first. Just got a new laptop 2 weeks ago 🤩
Next our big move sometimes this year. And after that… the DSLR or a bridge or …?

You are welcome!
Thank you kindly, all the best too 👋🏻😊

I recently got a new laptop hehe.

I still have my Nikon D750 and I hope it will go for a long time, can’t afford a new one, yet. I hope at least your camera was worthy while alive. There are pros and cons for each camera type but I stick with Nikon DSLR as I have two great lenses!

I had a Canon eos 550D with a few lenses and it was great… it did hurt a little when it died hahaha

Yes, every brand has some differences. I know what I want to photograph in the future so I will look for one that works best for me. It just needs to be a little lighter. Due to back problems.

Welcome back and I enjoyed this post immensely. Macro is great fun and I got a cool attachment to use with my iPhone 13 that gives you a higher magnification macro. Will tell you more soon!

Thanks a lot.
Woah, I would love to try an external macro lens on the iPhone macro lens - does it go double macro? Or maybe microphotography!!! Never thought about that

That’s a great question and I’m not sure!! I just need a woodland walk to really try it out. Should be able to this evening hopefully😀
