The Himba of Namibia is the largest tribe in Namibia and is also known as Tswana. The Himba are nomadic pastoralists and live mainly on the plains of the Namibian countryside, although they are also found in urban areas as well.
The Himba of Namibia has a varied culture consisting mainly of a language, weaving, and cattle herding. The Himba girl's traditional clothing consists of a long-legged dress, which is called a bima, a long skirt, known as a motu and a belt made of animal skin, which is called a kangani.
The Himba of Namibia, like most other nomadic tribes, depend on agriculture for their livelihood. Most of their food is cereals, grasses such as sorghum, which they harvest to feed their livestock. Their flocks of cattle range from two to eight sheep; the number being dependent on the size of the community and the abundance of sunlight.
The Himba of Namibia are also known for their hunting of gazelle, antelopes, and hippos. However, they don't usually catch anything larger than a sheep or a goat. The main form of entertainment for the Himba of Namibia are the dance forms, which they perform in both the wild and in captivity.
The Himba of Namibia and the wider Namibian population appreciate the importance of Namibia's deserts, particularly the Geat Indian Desert, for their livelihoods. The Namibian Angola is one of the most valuable members of the Namibian stock and is prized for its thick, dark bushy hair.
The Namibian Angola has been successfully cross-bred with several other breeds such as the white-tipped white antelope, the African-desert dog, the Zebra antelope, and the Indian striped hare. The Namibian Angola is used extensively as food, being preferred over cattle, although it is not the principal source of revenue for the country.
