BENDING LIGHT WITH PRISMS
The weather in Berlin is not so good at the moment that I feel like going out. So I played a bit more with the prisms in the basement.

The prisms have a 77mm thread. They are designed to be attached to the filter thread of the lens. This is quite convenient and ensures that the prism is always exactly in the optical centre. On the other hand, you are quite limited by this. I printed out a holder on the 3D printer. So I can now easily change the distance, position and angle of the prisms.
Furthermore, I can use the prisms "the wrong way round" and combine two prisms. The possibilities are thus incomparably greater than if I just screw them onto the lens.
The setup for the light painting was the same in all the pictures. I had attached the Concentrate C5 to a rectangular acrylic blade. A motor turned the blade in a circle. After each rotation of the blade, I turned the camera around the optical axis. The angles were 15, 30 or 45°. In some pictures I rotated the camera without steps.

Cool, every lightpainter needs a basement and a 3D printer! Two things I don’t have! 😭😂
Don't think about buying a 3D printer. This machine steals your last nerve. 🤣
You only need One friend with a basement and one or two 3D printers ... Not sure if Sven is a good candidate for a friend for you but hey that's up to you Chris 🤣
If you are nice to Sven he can be a great friend .. consider that
Oha sehr geile Ergebnisse.
Aha! So you do shoot inside! That's inspiring for me in my limited capacities, lol. Really fun stuff here, the fourth from the last and the last one are my favourites, but they're all interesting and remind me of this
Those prisms are beauties. I gather they are all glass? Love the way you printed that holder to give you so many more possibilities. Prism secrets revealed. 😁
Thanks. 😊
It is not so difficult to paint spirographs with light. All you have to do is hang a flashlight from the ceiling on a string, swing the flashlight and then photograph it from below. Maybe it is funny to combine it wirh the prisms.
You're welcome! I'd say not so difficult for you. For me, no practice, things are bound to go off the rails, but I'll learn no matter what. 😂
I did pick up some things to play around with inside in the dark. Just experimenting to see what works, without taking any shots. Once I sort a few things that way and am not in the middle of a load of stuff I needed to get done in the last couple weeks, I'm going to set up and see what I can shoot that isn't trash. 😂
Have fun. It's more important than the "perfect" result.
That's exactly how I see it, play time and fun. I expect to fail and learn a lot while doing so.
That's the way it works. 😁
😂 Gotta say, I appreciate like minds in regards to creating. Authentic creativity of others always gives me inspiration.
Your idea of creating a filter holder is very clever 👍
🙂
Prisms And Rotation. We used to try to draw similar ones on paper when we were at school.
😁 Maybe I do some light spirographs too sometimes.
The result ended up pretty well!
Really creative combination of technology + photography!
Thanks 😊
Looks so beautiful! This reminded me of spirograph which I used to do when I was younger. :D
This community is one of the most unique communities on Hive :D
Thanks 😊
The light painting is magnificently beautiful and the light painters needs a good support.
Thanks 🙂
Sehr schön, wo hast du denn die Linsen her?
Danke 😊. Die Prismen habe ich bei AliExpress bestellt.
Danke!
Sehr gerne.
