Hey guys!
Welcome back to another post.
Today's photo is another one from my bike trip halfway across Germany. Along the way I saw many cool things, ranging from castles to nuclear power plants to old medieval towns. The German countryside sometimes appeared to be from a different time.
This windmill was only a two hour bike ride from a nuclear power plant. As a kid, I used to love stories of knights and castles, bandits and pilgrims. Given its role in history, Germany has many of such stories and each little county has its own. Many years ago, two brother set off to gather these stories and publish them in a collection. These two brothers were the brothers Grimm and the collection of stories is now world famous.
I personally have a version in my windowsill. If you get the chance to read through it, I would highly recommend it. There are many shorter and less popular stories than the ones you may have heard of - and I promise, not every German fairy tale ends in the death of the main character. Just like a book, an old building can serve as a segway, leading our thoughts to another time when people could not simply buy flour in a supermarket. To a time, when many of the things you ate came out of your own garden or your neighbour's. A time, when hard labour was not something to be proud of but absolute necessity.
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed today's post. I would be happy to see you in the next one.
Cheers,
