Good day, dear Hivean friends from! My hiking saga seems to be endless. The time to write a long post with lots of photos is not often found. Well, it's not matter - slow progress is steady progress😄
Today, photos illustrate the descent from the river slope to the water. And we visited a natural monument on the way - it is called "The Sentinel".
First, we headed along the coast in the opposite direction from our camp. Artem, our guide, said that it was easier to go down there than back along the path where we had just climbed the slope. And indeed - I was no longer able to go down it. And we went along the river, photographing landscapes along the way.
This is where we started our descent.
In the middle of the slope, we just saw the "Sentinel" - this is a rock in the shape of a sort of ... phallic symbol, I would say😊 Very romantic, a legend is also associated with this "pillar". What is this legend about, how do you think? - of course, about love.
I didn’t really remember all details, but it means that the guy loved the girl, their parents did not allow them to get married, and she cried so much and sadly that this Nemda river originated. And the guy turned into a cliff (in the form of... you understood😍 and remained on the shore. The guide told us this.
There is also a parallel legend - about the Mari prince Chembulat, who, after death, went into the rock along with his servants. And he came to the aid of his people even after death - if enemies attacked. And the sentinel cliff is a symbol of his squad. But for some reason I liked it more about love:)))
We took some pictures at the monument of unhappy love and moved on. The path wound along the very bank of the river, flowers bloomed on the sides. So we returned to the place where our boats were left. The people plunged, and I decided to swim and swam in a race with the boat. By the way, I arrived earlier, no matter how hard our rowers tried to overtake me.
