Birthday girl!

What’s up, Hive? It’s almost midnight here in the Twin Cities and we’re getting an epic snow storm. Apparently, there hasn’t been one of this magnitude in 30 years. It isn’t surprising. There’s almost one or two hold out storms that bitch slap us here at the end of February. I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s another in store sometime in March as well. I’m actually beginning my starter seeds for the garden three weeks later than I did last year for that very reason. I’m not too stressed about the snow. I’ll be staying home with @guthrie and @vermillionfox working on @mirrorpool projects. Not a bad day at all.

I’m sharing new photos of my friend Stephany from a shoot we did together in June of last year. I’ve really drug my feet on getting these done. There’s been a ton of projects and travel these last six months or so and she’s been an angel with her patience. I logged in to Instagram and saw that it’s her birthday so I finally dropped everything, made my way to @caffetto and began editing these images. We shot together in Las Vegas during last year’s Viva Rockabilly Weekend event. She flew in to Minneapolis a few months later for a shoot at my house, That’s where these were taken.

As I went through and reviewed the photos from this shoot again, I was awestruck by her styling. She did everything herself, picking the outfits for the dark pinup session. That goes a long way when a client is willing to invest so much time in executing the vision, not to mention the travel to get here. She booked make-up with my friend Farah from Lovely Organic and from there, I picked her up and we made the most of the rooms throughout my home. Usually not my first choice, my house really came through giving a haunting, complex gothic vibe with candles and flowers.

I sent these to her as soon as they were finished and wished her a happy birthday. She was elated and Hive is the first platform we’re sharing these. Now that they’re out there, I’m going to finish some administrative stuff for @mirrorpool before it gets too much later. I have to get something to eat. Tomorrow will be a work-from-home day for me. Hopefully a lot of illustration and I’ll be able to finish new photography for Hive, and for the next @darkpinup NFT release that’ll be coming to WAX. It’s going to be called, “City Of Angels”. Have a good night!

Lovely pictures... She's beautiful

Thank you, @sperosamuel15! She is. I miss her. She's such a great partner to collaborate with.

I had been waiting for these! I love her hair and i think that the shoots that y'all have done turned out wonderful. So little time, so much editing... hahahha
Stay Warm browski!

Thanks, @castleberry! Yeah. I took me longer to get to these then it should have. Hopefully they're worth the wait. I'm constantly inundated with edits so the backlog is long.

She is cute and your shots also did justice to her beauty , it looked like an amazing piece of art..

Thank you, @losoni! I appreciate that. She makes it easy.

You are welcome

this is a great picture, of course you can use anything around the model to make props, especially the picture when the model is under the table, you can display anything around it. again this is great.

@benk07 I really try to mix up poses, and that's tough after 22 years of shooting. IMO, it's one of the biggest contributors to what makes photos look passé. I never want to just lean a model against a wall. I love interesting situations and poses, even if there's no reason for them in the real world [...like being under a table]. HAHA!

@kommienezuspadt I agree with you, and it's a cool idea, with a slightly classic look in the modern era.

Your lighting is always so cool.

@derangedvisions, thanks, man! I've made a career out of candles and little antique lamps, lol

That's so cool. You have some really cool props for your shoots.

Nice shots. They turned out really well. I can tell what you mean by her styling being so good. It looks like she put a ton of thought into them. I hope you are staying safe through this storm. It hit us pretty hard, but not as bad as you folks got. Stay warm!

Thanks, @bozz! She did. Yeah. She was excellent to work with. She took it seriously and that made this so much better. We got about 13". It wasn't the storm I thought we were getting. A minor inconvenience.

Haha, 13" would be a big hit for us. I like to think we are more sturdy than most, but clearly Minnesota has us beat!

You are the Master of Light. Truly. Impressive that she did her own styling and even more, that it you are able to trust that it will be exactly what you are looking for. She is beautiful and the first shot is probably my favorite, but, the second will linger, perhaps the expression... as always great work!

Keep warm up there!
