We seldom see the little red squirrels normally only up on the North Coast. Larger grey squirrels are very inquisitive, in the gardens they become so familiar it's amazing down in the Cape.

Now that you mention it, I never saw a squirrel up north there when we worked on the towers. But I am sure that there must be a few there somewhere.
Yep, the grey squirrels are plenty all over here in the Cape. We also saw them far up on the west coast.

Only ever seen them on two occasions in forest walks and once around the chalets where we stayed, very shy compared to those in the Cape.

You were lucky to get a view of them. Maybe the squirrels in the Cape have over time become used to people.

Maybe that's a good thing as they might increase their population. Be sure that they know who their main enemy is.
