Magical Mid-Winter Biodiversity Vibes

Slice Of Life Across Spectrum In Durban

Shake off rainy weather followed by snow inland which brought the barometer down to low single figures for Durban, still in the positive we South African's tend to shake off, recover quickly, savour moments.

Perched chatting about politicians playing games, called sorting out matters at hand, no hands have been in the pot of late with beady eyes watching each other. Wish us well with our new Government of National Unity, waiting on the sidelines watching chess board movements.

Succulents or fat plants, water-retaining plants adapted to arid climates or soil conditions. Not sure of the identity on researching would think it is the Rabiea albinota - S'keng-keng - Indigenous South African succulent.

Hardy, drought-resistant succulent ‘shrublet’ brings colour to the garden with its wine-red leaves strange stalk like extension appears in winter each year that appears to be the 'flower'.

Coral trees in bloom simply take your breath away, majestic in colour making their presence known in our winter months.

Broad-leaf coral tree up first with it cork like bark, an ideal home for woodpecker birds, slow growing dropping it's leaves during Autumn to showcase dazzling blooms. When Spring returns so do the exceptionally broad leaves.

Brown Pansy, or Brown Commodore, medium-sized butterfly with wingspan approximately 5cm. Enjoys coastal living in riverine forests and dense savannas, where butterfly flies low and slow through open areas in my garden.

What's coming down the road at me, seeing a white butterfly apparently a sign that you’re becoming more conscious of yourself, that you’re progressing in your mental development. Oh well it's neatly tucked away beneath a leaf for now....

Great Picture here..i like it..😍😍

Thanks for visit and kind words.

Wow the garden blooms bring such joy, especially those coral trees. Hope the new government makes positive changes.

We all live in hope, trees bring joy, flowers delight, nature being the only constant.

You're absolutely right dear friend

Your garden is bursting with so many beautiful colours and they're all so delightful. Thank you for that beautiful Sunset!

Stunning plant life in Africa not found everywhere that makes it fun, our sunsets very dazzling all year round. Have a wonderful day!

The picture you show is very impressive, friend.

Thank you for visiting and kind comment.

I hope that your government does things reasonably, thinking about the well-being of the people of your town.
How beautiful it is to see the birds enjoying the bath, the plants are shiny. Thank you very much dear friend @joanstewart for sharing these really beautiful shots

Watch and wait with what happens in political circles, it should in theory be the right move made.

Birds, butterflies, mushrooms (I have yet to share) all celebrating after the extremely cold weather. Our weather is nothing in comparison to what people living in the Cape are experiencing, from the sea into the mountains has been horrific.

Good luck with the new government. You just never know how it's going to go

Yup, don't think they know what is going on!

What curious observations of nature, beautiful plants and butterfly 👍

Nature brings more delights during the winter, we may not get the snow or sudden change it is gradual, still noticeable.

Snow in KZN is nice, did it snow in Joburg this year? Still about 3 weeks to go for the cold days in SA and NZ to be over.

Beautiful sunset shot 😍

Crazy how these natural disasters are now hitting the shores of SA. Not nice sewing people's home destroyed from flood and crazy winds.

Homes built in previous wetlands always leads to disaster, water finds a way, Cape winds are notorious coming through in their wet season, geographical positioning.

Fires ripping through the farmlands some losing hundred head of sheep on one farm, not only taking in the devastation to homes and people. West coast rain, East coast berg winds pushing fires in many provinces, people are being tested no matter where they live.

I haven't seen many butterflies in my garden this year, in fact I have only seen one cabbage white and one red admiral.

Butterflies arrive all year round, always appear to be more during winter.

I hope that with the new government will come better times for you there. Nice pictures of the nature around you, Joan.
Have a great weekend :)

South Africa is a beautiful country with wonderful people we all looking to find common ground to work together and grow again being a young democracy.

Cannon took some great shots, I like the last one..

Sunsets, my favourite time of the day with view out my garden. Always play dodgems with electricity cables/pylons too.... 🙃
