Since last December I have been practicing more frequently the photography of rural landscapes in the surroundings of my village. This rewarding activity has had a sort of “climax” during this first month of the year and so January has become for me a sort of “landscape-therapy” full of long rides along rural roads and ways.... I do this almost always in the early hours, so in this selection of photos that I share with you today, there is a lot of that “golden light” typical of sunrises with the sun giving warm colors being close to the horizon, although I also allowed myself to include photographs taken on days with slightly overcast skies, whose uniform light is also an excellent resource to achieve eloquent visions of the rural landscape... So, I invite you to enjoy these photographs going forward in this publication, I'm sure you'll like what you'll find here... ;)

Desde el pasado diciembre he estado practicando con más frecuencia la fotografía de paisajes rurales en los alrededores de mi pueblo. Esta gratificante actividad ha tenido una especie de "clímax" durante este primer mes del año y es así como Enero se ha convertido para mi en una especie de "paisaje-terapia" repleta de largos recorridos a lo largo de caminos y carreteras rurales... Hago esto casi siempre en horas tempranas, así que en esta selección de fotos que comparto hoy con ustedes, hay mucha de esa "luz dorada" típica de los amaneceres con el sol obsequiando colores cálidos estando cercano al horizonte, aunque también me permití incluir fotografías hechas en días de cielos ligeramente encapotados, cuya luz uniforme es también un excelente recurso para lograr visiones elocuentes del paisaje rural... Así que, les invito a disfrutar de estas fotografías siguiendo adelante en esta publicación, estoy seguro de que les gustará lo que encontrarán aquí... ;)

Moving away from the urban center of the town and entering the rural areas, either by dirt roads or narrow paved roads, is something that forces you to stop frequently to appreciate, enjoy and of course photograph the surrounding landscape... As the hours go by, the lights change and the view, always between rural and natural, seems to gradually mutate, generating an exquisite sequence of views worthy of a photo... Whether walking, on a bicycle or even any motor vehicle, it is difficult not to stop and be captivated by what is happening around us in these rural areas.

Alejarse del casco urbano del pueblo y adentrarse en los espacios rurales, ya sea por caminos de tierra o por angostas vías asfaltadas, es algo que obliga a detenerse con frecuencia para apreciar, disfrutar y por supuesto fotografiar el paisaje alrededor... Con el paso de las horas las luces van cambiando y la visión siempre entre rural y natural parece mutar gradualmente, generando una exquisita secuencia de vistas dignas de una foto... Ya sea caminando, sobre una bicicleta o incluso cualquier vehículo automotor, es difícil no detenerse y dejarse cautivar por lo que sucede en torno a nosotros en estos predios rurales.

Due to the fact that this publication contains a kind of compilation of landscapes recently photographed by me, I have added titles that refer to the places where they were taken. Some of these titles usually refer to names given by the local people to certain areas of the valley, which have become established even as officially registered names on national maps. There is much to say about some of these names. For example “El Cojobal” has its origin in a grove of trees called “Cojobos” which grow there, the road “San Antonio” is named this way thanks to a large ranch that exists there since colonial times, the mountain “Las mesas” is called this way because of its flat shape at the top, which according to the people of the town, looks like a table and the “Marquero” mountain is so named because for many years it was owned by a family whose firstborn were all named “Marcos” among them, incidentally, figures my maternal great-great-grandfather “Marcos Pinto Rodriguez”... You see, there are not only landscapes here, there are also a lot of stories to tell... ;)

Debido a que esta publicación contiene una especie de recopilación de paisajes fotografiados recientemente por mi, he agregado títulos que hagan referencia a los lugares en donde fueron realizadas. Algunos de estos títulos por lo general hacen referencia a nombres dados por la población local a determinadas áreas del valle, los cuales han ido quedando asentados incluso como nombres registrados oficialmente en los mapas nacionales. Hay mucho que decir respecto de algunos de estos nombres. Por ejemplo "El Cojobal" tiene su origen en un bosquecillo de árboles llamados "Cojobos" los cuales crecen allí, el camino "San Antonio" se llama así gracias a un gran rancho que existe allí desde tiempos de la colonia, la montaña "Las mesas" se llama así debido a su forma plana en la cima, la cual según las personas del pueblo, luce plan como una mesa y el cerro "Marquero" lleva ese nombre porque durante muchos años fue propiedad de una familia en la cual todos su primogénitos se llamaban "Marcos" entre los cuales, por cierto, figura mi tatarabuelo materno "Marcos Pinto Rodríguez"... Ya ven, no solo son paisajes aquí, también hay un montón de historias para contar... ;)

The days ahead are more difficult for landscape photography, due to the arrival of the drought it is certain that -as it happens every year- we will have forest fires and even some people will commit the foolishness of flaming their land to start sowing or for the grass to sprout thanks to the morning humidity (a custom unfortunately inherited from their ancestors and apparently impossible to change)... But be that as it may, there will always be a landscape nearby and I will not be discouraged to make my rural tours...

Vienen días más difíciles para hacer fotografías de paisajes, debido a la llegada de la sequía es seguro que -tal como sucede anualmente- tengamos incendios forestales e incluso algunas personas cometan la tontería de incendiar sus terrenos para iniciar siembras o para que el pasto retoñe gracias a la humedad matutina (una costumbre lamentablemente heredada de sus ancestros y al parecer imposible de cambiar)... Pero sea como sea, siempre habrá un paisaje cercano y no pienso amilanarme respecto a hacer mis recorridos rurales...

They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.}
