If there are beliefs and great myths, it is precisely within this wonderful world of photography. Things that people read and hear out there either from bad publicity or from people who do not have enough knowledge to know what is true and what is not, and by this I am not saying that I am an expert in the area but I do consider that I have a minimum of notion to at least comment on how true what is said out there is.

As in all the arts, because photography is one of them, the subject of quality for example is something that will always be at the top of the conversation topics along with the one that says that as long as you have such and such equipment or use such and such camera your photos will be better. No friends, that's not so and that's why today I decided to talk to you a little bit about it. Let's go then:

This is one of the phrases that one as a photographer hears the most from people who have no idea about the whole process of taking a picture. Taking pictures involves having a specialized knowledge of both the camera and the light that surrounds the places, that is, it is much more complicated than it seems.

It is the management of ISO, aperture, shutter speed but above all of light and how we can be able to manage it ourselves as we wish. For example, do you know that the more light the lower the ISO has to be? or the less light the more open the aperture has to be? - All these answers you have to know before you click.

Many times people may think that just having a "good eye" is more than enough to take a picture, but the reality is that it is not. Is it important to have it? - Of course it is, but unfortunately it is not everything and taking a picture goes beyond putting the camera up to your eyes, it is knowing how to compose properly, knowing how to frame so that we can distribute all the elements of the photo within the frame or as I said before, mastering the subject of light.

But it is also important to have the knowledge to keep training our eyes so that they are able to be sharper and know how to better interpret each scene to be photographed. But then, how do you achieve all that? - STUDYING, my people, you always have to study the profession you want to dedicate yourself to and photography is no exception.

There is a saying that goes: "It's not the arrow, it's the Indian" and in this context it couldn't be more accurate. There is this false belief that is sold to many people that the more expensive a camera or cell phone is, the better the quality of the captures and that is a lie the size of a mountain.

It is true that nowadays there is incredibly good equipment but it will only be of some help because what will predominate will be the photographer's knowledge. A good camera will not help you to have a good pulse, not to cut a person's head when taking a picture or simply to compose; if all this is present in the photo, it won't matter if you have the most expensive camera on the market. So now you know, equipment is not everything, a good technique is.

Here we are not going to lie because there are indeed many expensive cameras and equipment on the market but I tell you very sincerely, you don't need all of them to do a good photographic work. There is a minimum amount of equipment that we can work with without any difficulty: a camera of no more than $400, the lenses will depend on the work you want to do, a hot shoe flash, a tripod, a diffuser and a light bouncer. Ok, don't think that you are not going to make any investment because you will need to do it, but if you buy wisely you can save a lot of money.

In the end, don't spend your life looking for expensive equipment because in the end it makes no difference when it comes to seeing the photos in a portfolio, on a social network or in an album or portrait at home. I repeat, go back to the previous point.

If you are thinking of becoming a photographer only because of the "likes" on social networks, let me tell you that this is not the way to go. There is a phenomenon today and that is that anyone thinks they are a photographer just because of what people tell them on social networks or because of the likes and the reality is that you have to ignore all that.

Why? - Because the vast majority of these people are not photographers and therefore the opinion is not worthless but will not be as critical as it should be. If they want good feedbacks the best thing to do is to go first to forums or groups specialized in photography and it is there where they will receive the comments that will make them grow in this profession.

I sorry to inform you that it is and very much so. Our photographic work does not end in the camera the day we are doing the session, it ends when we sit down at our respective PC or laptop and start editing or developing all our photos. This is why it is necessary to have knowledge in Lightroom and Photoshop to make our work more optimal.

Believe it or not, doing a good editing job can represent a huge plus when presenting our final work because there we will see improvements to certain details that inevitably appear in the original photos. So friends, in addition to learning photography, it would also be appropriate to acquire knowledge in these editing programs.

Photography is incredible, it is a very beautiful and wide world where we can experience many subjects and modalities but it also needs hours of study and reading to be better every day. Finally I tell you that PRACTICE is vital, even if you feel you have nothing more to learn, keep taking pictures every time you can, that is the key to success.
