Godzilla is back 🤣 EN - FR

Great surprise today! As I was quietly drinking coffee in my garden, a noise stopped me. A noise of an animal in the leaves which, unlike usual, was much louder.

Curious, I took a look and my eyes met another one, too happy by this surprise I ran upstairs to get my camera to share this great news with the whole world! Godzilla is back 🤣

Belle surprise aujourd'hui!

Godzilla is back 🤣

The lizards in my garden I'm familiar with, remember I made a post about one of them 2 years ago, but this size much less.

This is a Malaysian monitor lizard, a fairly common species in Thailand.

Having the scientific name of varanus salvator, this lizard can reach up to 3 meters long and 60kg. More generally we find it in the 2 meters. Its period of reproduction is during the rainy season (season where we are at the moment).

Beginning to be a little less shy, our mini Godzilla started to come out of hiding, making it easier to be photographed.

Safe, his favorite food are fish, insects, eggs... It has a strong jaw but without bacteria (unlike the Komodo dragon, his cousin).

My mini Godzilla although far from being 2 meters long but rather 0.7 meter was quite impressive at the time.

Such a handsome little monitor, he will be very impressive as he gets older. I love lizards they are so interesting and such a variety.

Thank you for your comment @mariana4ve. I wasn't afraid, but I was surprised. I wasn't used to having this kind of animal in my garden when I lived in France 🤣

Ya, I understand, it is a typical reaction of any lover of photography.

Very nicely captured! He wasn’t afraid of you! You talked his language!? LoL

Thanks @kaminchan, I'm "animal friendly" 😂 I'm a big fan of them (except spider) and all my friends are persuaded than I can talk to them (may be it's true... 🤣)

You have to try!! Get on with communication!!

Good shots! Although I am afraid of those animals, I think I would have tried to take a picture of them too.

Thank you @mballesteros 😊
