No, we haven’t sailed for 50 days across the Pacific to get to warmer regions; we’re still in Alaska. However, I thought today I would give you all an update and share some older photos that I think turned out amazing.
We have recently hauled the boat out and put some sleeves on our sail drive shafts. This will allow the seals to rub on the sleeves, giving us another two years of run time. The proper repair is obviously welding it and then using the lathe to get it back to its original size, but for now, this will do. If you didn’t understand anything I said above, then I’m sorry—boat things.
Before that, we visited some glaciers in Glacier Bay. I didn’t take many photos because you can’t fly a drone there. We’re moving at a steady pace towards Sitka and should reach Elfin Cove by tomorrow. We’re moving much faster now since we have a cleaner hull, and this was the first time I noticed the huge difference in speed—an extra 2 knots! That might not seem like a lot, but it really is.
Along the way to Sitka, we will visit many hot springs, and we should have a great time. We’ll have lots to explore, that's for sure.
