I aim for the best shot too, but don't always attain that goal...it is what it is I guess, I'll only be able to do so much based on my limited knowledge and skill. I don't have enough interest in photography to learn more than I know at the moment, and no time for it either.

You don't need to learn more, mate. In my opinion you are one of the best photographers.
You have experience, tools and everything else one needs to capture the best shots.
