Twice

IMG_0238.jpg

I consider myself as someone observant. I usually look thoroughly around me and notice even small things that many people will miss. Not only when I am taking pictures, this is a characteristic that I just have. Sometimes it's a hassle since I don't observe only pleasant or beautiful things but in general, I am proud of my sharp eye.

Last week I found myself in an exchange of comments under this post were I was referring towards people that don't notice, a bit disparagingly. Not in an unkind way but still not with esteem either. You can read the discussion under the link above, you might find it interesting too.

Anyway life came to remind me that we should think twice before we get judgemental about others only a few days after I wrote the aforementioned comments!

It was a while since the last time I got out with my macro lens just for the fun of it so I took my camera and went a few steps away, to the small park next to our workshop. It is a place that I pass by every day and usually more than once. I knew that it wasn't the best season for the flowers of the park but I had seen two kinds blooming and I thought to give it a try. I went straight to a big blooming bunch and took the first photos and I started looking around. Obviously more thoroughly than usual since I found not two, not three, not even five blooming plants but ten of them!

Frankly I was shocked! If I miss so much in my familiar environment what should I expect for more challenging situations.

So much for my, so called, sharp eye :(

Of course I was glad that I was wrong and I had so many wonderful flowers to take pictures of! Not to mention that I wasn't wrong only about the variety of blooming plants but about the light too. It was a bit late, there wasn't any direct sunlight on the park and I was under the impression that I was out mostly to take some fresh air and not for taking any worthy of note photos.

I don't know what you think of them but I am quite happy with the result!

Gorgeous! This makes me want to get my macro out too. I am excited to have some plant models soon...I planted my fall garden last week. Good lesson too.

Plants never disappoint me as models, they are the best :)

How nice that you have planted your garden! We still haven't a piece of land in Nafplio and we miss it so much.

Cheers and thanks for stopping by :)

An exciting way to see these flowers!!!.... Flowers are always an excellent reason to open the diaphragm and do this kind of photographic work with lots of blur in the background!... This is wonderful to see, thanks for sharing and creating these photos @fotostef friend!

Amazing nature shots!

Glad you liked them :)

Quite a few South African plants you have there!

I don't recognise them but I'll take your word for it :)

Thank you for stopping by!

It's been a long time since I've seen such flowers, but especially so beautifully photographed. I don't really like macro photos, because I associate them with insects. Your flowers are gorgeous, I especially liked the way you captured their fragility.

Thank you @bluemoon , I am glad you liked them! Macro is a whole world and you can make so many, different things in it!
And flowers are my favourite subject :)

Beautiful shots indeed and insights.
I try not to be judgmental, I know how important it is and yet I still do it sometimes.
xx

Thanks!
Yes, we know what is right and what's wrong but sometimes why may slip into small (hopefully) misbehaviors. It's only human!

such lovely photos! Here it is evident the benefits of going beyond "cell phone photography". Thanks for sharing these captures from the natural world.

Thank you @calendulacraft , I am glad you liked them!
It is so nice to hear that the extra effort for a nice picture is appreciated :)

I love wildflowers, so simple and beautiful. I am grateful to your habit of noticing the small details and taking such peculiar and beautiful photos.

Thank you very much @jordy0827 , I am so glad you liked them! I love them too :)

Such gorgeous photos those flowers so delicate and exquisite

I had to check out the link and comments an interestign read and it got me thinking

I like you feel I am pretty observant and notice things many others may miss, I am sure I drive my wife nuts when I pause a TV show were watching to point out some small and perhaps in her mind minor and irrelevant flaw I noticed inthe show, something that just isnt right, for example in a show yesterday someone was reading a newspaper, and I noticed it was the exact same newspaper pages from an episode inthe previous season, my wife doubted me and I had to go back and find it in the previous season.

Or out on walks I am often pointing out things I see that I fele she may have and often has missed, most times she appreciates it but sometimes I am sure it drives her nuts

and I also have been guilty of commenting on how so many these days are eyes on the phone screens and miss seeing so much

Haha, noticing the newspaper from the previous season, that's next level! I don't think I can keep up with you :)
Your wife should think twice before she doubts you!
I think that we all slip into small misbehaviors once in a while, even when we have the best intentions!

Thank you very much :)

Yeah perhaps a bit over the top I have always bene that way and been told many a time its over the top LOL

amazing collection of flowers.

Glad you liked them!

I believe that we should indeed not judge. Life is full of distractions. For me your photos are beautiful and delicate; however, for others they may go unnoticed because what they want to see at that moment is not exactly a flower. And it's also that I know you, and I'm fond of you. Maybe you and traisto have to focus the advertising on a more interactive aspect. I don't know, I'm rambling. You know I like to do that.

Best wishes to you both.

A friend's "rambling" is always welcome :)
Thank you for sharing it with me!

Cheers!
