That's not the first picture of the day but I like to start this post in a colourful way. Plus that I like this shot a lot!
This small ferry and many more of its kind used to be very important for the west part of Greece. You see there is a point that the mainland is cut in half by a narrow but very long gulf. You could either cross it in a few minutes with the ferry or drive for many hours to bypass it! Now there is a bridge to fill the gap but many people still prefer to take the boat. Either because it is cheaper or because they are romantic souls and enjoy a small cruise in the middle of their road trip :)
Above there is a picture of the bridge as I saw it from the land and below is a photograph of it from the space, taken by the Italian astronaut Ignazio Magnani! The advantage of an elevated point of view is beyond discussion in this case :)
But before we see more of the bridge let's take a look around. The location is obviously strategic so a medieval castle is in order. Actually there are two of them, one on each shore but I stayed on the one side of the gulf!
During the sunset I made a few pictures with the car. No I don't want to show off, this is not even my car. But Suzuki offered the vehicle for the trip and they had to take something in return! And the pics are not too bad either :)
And when the dusk come it was the time of the bridge. Long, impressive and well lit, it was the perfect subject to focus on, during this magical hour!
Thank you for reading and if you want to know more about me you can check out my introduction post.

Wow, these shots are so beautiful! Loved the one you chose to start the post on a colourful note. But my favorite is definitely the one with the sunset on the rearview mirror. Amazing!
I like that picture too, it has a playful note in it :)Thank you very much @beautifulwreck for stopping by and taking the time to read my post!
Hey, nice car! 😂
That is one seriously long bridge. I've always rather enjoyed ferries when I've had the opportunity to use them as well. I think you're right that there is something romantic about them.
Looks like an SUV. I read that Suzuki offered it to him for the trip, but I still do not know what type of Suzuki it is. Maybe a Vitara.
Either way, if everything goes right, then I will wake in a SUV within this year. I am planning to earn enough money to buy a used working SUV to live in it to avoid having to pay the high rent and the also high regular monthly bills, which I cannot even afford in the winter on my own.
I saw a few people on YouTube, who live in their SUVs full time. They inspire/motivate me to make this as a solution.
Haha yes, from the time that magazines and photographers were considered important and and car dealerships were in line to sponsor our productions!
The bridge is indeed the longest in Greece but it has taken away a part of the charm to travel at the west part of the country!
Really beautiful shots Stef! Truly!!!
Thanks a lot mate :)
My pleasure! =)
The Rio-Antirrio bridge is beautiful, and yes, it looks really impressive at dusk. And the fortress is nearby, mmm... I still very much regret the failed trip to Greece.
Photos with the car are nice, especially with the orange sunset, and it's great that you can pay Suzuki with them :)
Maybe you'll have the chance to reschedule that trip and see it by yourself!
The photos of the car. A small pay for a big service! From an era that magazines and photographers were considered important and and car dealerships were in line to sponsor our productions :)
Hope so!
It was a good time :)
Bridges have taken the pkace of a long, romantic sail across the bay. However, I do appreciate them in the winter!
Sweet shots! The car, the castles, the bridge... lovelt!
Hi, Stef!
Hello Denise!
Haha indeed, romantic sails are nice but some times you just want to get across as soon as possible :)
It's true! :))
