Gone but not forgotten

Is it five years a lot?

Is it five years a few?

How can we measure time when it comes to loss, memories and nostalgia?

It was only a pet,

some might say.

But this amazing creature meant much more to me.
He barged into my life like a furry hurricane and nothing was the same any more.

_MG_1291.jpg

He was my friend, my companion, my joy, my comfort.
He gave me plenty of reasons to be happy,
a lot of excuses to be outraged
and most of all, countless lessons about life itself.

_MG_1293.jpg

He stood by my side for more than 16 years,
in good days and in bad ones,
in our daily routine and in wild travels
and he never doubted our unbreakable bond.

_MG_1370.jpg

Now he is memories and pictures,
a framed photo on the wall,
a tree growing on his grave.

_MG_1328.jpg

And a few words that I wrote in his memory.
Because he is gone
but not forgotten.

May he rest wherever he is. Absolutely great shots by the way!

Thank you very much, he was my best model ever!

5 years can feel like the blink of an eye as well as an eternity at the same time. We never forget those that go one before us. You definitely got some beautiful shots to cherish and accompany the countless memories! Thanks for sharing with us my friend.

So sorry for your loss
It doesn't matter how many years have gone by a loss of a friend who stands by you at all times is an immeasurable loss.
I have lost my girl as well, it's now nine years and I still miss my furry little girl.

Thank you so much. You are right, time doesn't change anything, maybe it just softens the feelings.

Aww what a beautiful tribute to your friend!

Thank you Sara, it is the day of the year that I cannot think of anything else.

I'm sobbing over here. Nice photoshoot!

I guess I am getting a bit emotional that day of the year but it helps me so much to share it. Thank you very much!

I'm so sorry, I know how heartbreaking it is when you lose such a big part of your life and family. But Morpheus lives on through your memories and your love for him. He was beautiful.

Thank you very much for your sympathy Emma, he was beautiful and unforgettable indeed!

My favorite was the 4th from top, loved the eye expression. :))

So beautiful @fotostef! Morpheus is alive in your hear forever!

Thank you very much!

I am sorry for your lost my friend. This reminds me back of my dog. She has the exact color and the face expression is very similar, with the ear like those. She was my best friend during the day. Rest in peace MORPHEUS!

Thank you so much for your sympathy, it means a lot to me!

Sorry for your loss Stef, 5 years are nothing if you can't spend it with your best friend. Love the lighting in these portraits!

Thank you very much Ruben, have a nice weekend!

Memories wrapped up with love!

Lovely memoir in photography and poem.

Thanks a lot @joanstewart, enjoy your day!

Sixteen years for medium sized furry friend I would call a good innings, extremely sad when they go on not having a longer lifespan. Each and every one has been extra special in my lifetime never forgotten.

Yes, he had a long life for his size (40 kilos in adulthood) but nature has decided that dogs should live much less than we would like. All we can do is to be grateful for the moments we had with them and remember.
Thanks again!

Don't linger too long without a companion, one is waiting in the wings looking for a loving person to accompany.
