A small detail

We are running low on firewood so today @traisto and myself went to the farm to pick up a load of branches from last year's pruning. We prepared our usual snack, took a lot of crates to fill them up with the woods, we took our dog who always love spending time at the fields, we even took both our cameras, just in case something interesting shows up. But I did forget a small detail! The chainsaw :)

Now I am almost laughing but I was quite upset when I realized it. OK I have a lot in my mind but how did I go to cut wood without a saw? It is the first thing I should have put in the car and yet, I forgot!

Going back home and returning to the olive grove was about half an hour driving and it just felt too much at that point. Instead we found a few branches short enough to fit in the car (that I chopped later at home), just to postpone the actual work we came to do and sat on the grass for a nice picnic!

I am describing all this in a rather carefree tone but I was quite frustrated by my carelessness. And since I had my camera with me I started taking pictures, the best thing I know to calm myself and gain some inner peace.

And when my subject is such a delicate and beloved kind of flowers, then taking pictures is as close to meditation as I can get :)

Well, I for one am glad you remembered the camera and prefer focus to movement! More of the lovely anemones for me! Yay!

But I do know the angst of forgetting something important until it's too late. Done that all too many times...

Haha thank you! Fotini told me that you didn't appreciate the moving thing :)

Oh dear!!!! That's quite funny though really, forgetting the chainsaw!! And the day turned out okay, anyway, without the buzz and whirr of a machine and its petrol stench. And more beautiful moments with the anemones as well, which may have been missed if you had the chainsaw. Silver linings.

We have a saying in Greek that goes like one day we'll remember all that and laugh.
The trick is to manage to laugh when it actually happens and not another day. Still not there but I am working on it :)

The trick is to manage to laugh when it actually happens and not another day

Oh I've learnt that trick - I ALWAYS laugh in those situations. I really believe that it's part of a cosmic joke, and if you're not laughing about it, you're spending too much time taking shit seriously. However, my husband just gets stressed and grumpy and CANNOT see the funny side until later. I always know that 'one day we'll remember all that and laugh.' in the heat of a bad situation, and figure I may as well cut straight to humour, but thata doesn't go down well with the man being all so serious about it, ahaha!!!

As long as you guys are working on it, that's the main thing.

Glad to hear I am not the only one :)
