It was quite a long drive last summer and in the end, a 17km long hike to reach this viewpoint in the Spanish Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. The park is located in the province of LLeida and is the only National Park in Catalonia.
There are almost 200 lakes in the whole National Park and it definitely showed during our hike: besides the big lake in the picture above (which is actually dammed), we saw many other lakes and rivers.
I absolutely loved how wild and rugged this place looked and would love to explore more of the National Park in the future. Because it's not that easily accessible, we had to leave it at this one hike this time.
