People are posting about Christmas and I come up with a pumpkin post, I know, but look at the bright side. The year is still not over and the festival was held on the 13th of October, so basically two months passed since then.
This is a festival held regularly now and has a double scope as I see. The main reason of the festival is to attract tourists and create a lovely atmosphere for 3 days, where everyone can have some fun, taste local delicacies and get familiar with the culture, but also to celebrate autumn with these lovely pumpkin creations. On the other hand, there are the school kids, who are carving and decorating these pumpkins each year.
Back in my day, there was no such thing, but I would have definitely loved it and I bet I wouldn't have been the only one. It is an excellent opportunity to give way to creativity, which, at school age is much needed.
For me, it was the second edition and was thinking of how many similar design I'm going to see, but was wrong.
The designs I saw exceeded my expectations, just like it did last year.
Creativity has no limits and these exhibitions are just proof of the saying. The designs you see here are mind blowing and show you that recurrence is not something you see often here.
These pumpkins were carved by 10 year old school kids. Therefore, what you should look for is not perfection, but creativity.
While admiring these lovely pumpkins, I was thinking what I would have done if given 10 pumpkins for example, to carve them and make sure to make them presentable for a festival like this one. The truth is, I would be in great trouble as my imagination and creativity seems limited, compared to what you see here.
Last year, about this time, I decided this year I'm going to organize a pumpkin carving and decorating challenge on Hive. I was planning to grow some bit pumpkins at my dad's. After detailing him the plan, he bought some seeds and I was looking forward to seeing the pumpkins grow.
Then as always happens, mother nature had different plans as none of the pumpkins developed to grow to what was expected. I was disappointed, but at the end of the day, it is what it is, we have to accept failure too.
So I was excited to see these wonderful designs, like the one you see on the photo. Look at those eyes, well oriented to look like he's looking at a specific point. Love it!
The truth is, you don't need much to do this. You can recycle pretty much everything you have at home and don't use. All you need is your imagination and a bit of creativity.
There were these small, ornamental pumpkins to sell. I love these and my dad always have a good few in the garden, but this year somehow pumpkins were not what you'd expect and we got nothing out of these.
Have you ever thought of decorating the pumpkins with the elements of the periodic table? They have and there you go. Look at how good it looks.
Even though mother nature crossed my plans this year, we were not left empty handed.
My dad's neighbor is always growing pumpkins for the livestock and he got some huge ones this year, so he gave my dad two big ones, weighing 50kg each. You can see one on the photo. It may not look so big, but it was big , trust me.
It would have been a shame to waste it at home, so we decided to donate it to a restaurant and you can see, both of them got a remarkable place in front of the door. There was an armchair there, for people to take photos and trust me, you had to wait in line to get a minute to take your photos.
All in all it's a lovely festival and we had a lot of fun. Stay tuned for the next episode as there will be more pumpkins and yummy food too.

The thing that counts is you made an effort to grow pumpkins. The intention was there 😃 I just got to busy and forgot so my failure was much worse friend.
I love the minion pumpkins, so cool. Also the periodic table is such an out of the box idea. Very creative who decided to do that 😃
Happy Holidays friend and may the upcoming year be good to both of us.
Yes, my dad made an effort, and it was frustrating to fail, because in other years we get nice pumpkins without any extra effort and when you need them, you don't get any, but this is life :)
And no worries as I was busy too, so I don't know if I would have made it to my dad to spend a few days with carving pumpkins, but attending the festival compensated my loss. It was absolutely amazing!
Happy Holidays to you too my friend :)
Nice event with lots if funny pumpkins ))
I never decorated a pumpkin. I'd rather cook it 😁
You should definitely try it out once! You can cook it after :D
In my head pumpkins are divided into 2 types: those that are grown for the seeds (and throw away the rest) and those that are grown to eat. I was always wondering about which one is used for decorations.
Definitely the first one. If you throw away the pumpkin because you only need the seeds, then why not use it to decorate. On the other hand, I'm always thinking of the shape of it, as that counts the most.
Maybe next year we can have a pumpkin decorating challenge, here, on Hive 😀
It would be curious to try something new. Life is short )
Unfortunately it is, we know that :(
The creativity displayed at the festival is top notch. It's sad that your dad's pumpkins didn't pan out this year...but next year, watch out! The pumpkin donated to the restaraunts is now immortalized through the photos of countless visitors! I would have loved this festival as the fall is my favorite time of year! Thanks for the tour.
I can't argue with that and you only saw half of it.
I hope you can attend a similar festival soon as it's a lot of fun!
I also hope my dad can grow some nice pumpkins next year and I can try out my creativity :)
The truth is that in general people do not give importance to autumn, I like it although it is not my favorite season, but it has its charm, why not give it more magic with a little festivity? I think it's perfect that you have encouraged to bring this post and share what you want, after all it is a blog hahaha.
Nah, I loved the smurfs pumpkins, great idea and concretion hahahaha
I send you my best wishes for this new year, thank you for everything you bring here, your reflections and analysis have been very useful for me.
Here the situation is different because autumn is different too. We have a lot of wonderful colors and we get to enjoy the last few days or weeks of warm weather and obviously the pumpkins too. It is one of my favorite seasons for those reasons and I love it!
Thank you for the nice words my dear Nitsu. I wish you a lovely weekend!
Your neighbors pumpkins will live forever in hundreds of social media photos 😆 We finally got through using all our squash and pumpkins. Lots of soup but also some roasted and then some just chopped up and frozen for later.
That is 100% true 🤣 He was really proud.
Wow, frozen pumpkin, I've never thought of it. I only freeze squash, must try pumpkin too. Thanks for the tip 👍
Smurfs and Minions, what more does a post need?
I love to see locals making an effort in the community like this and hey it is the taking part that counts, unless of course it is the lottery then winning means everything!
Roll on 2nd january and we can escape all this xmas nonsense and get back to the real world
bah humbug
Indeed, the effort is that counts and the joy of creating these pumpkin pieces and also watching people admiring them.
Aw geez, I need to do that thing of costuming pumpkins as minons!... Fantastic!... hahaha :)) Really funny!!!

I'm expecting a blog post about it 😆
I have remembered about this festival since last year when you shared the previous edition. When did time pass so fast? :O
Exactly! I still can't believe it's been a full year since the last one. Time flies 🫣
Congratulation
Thank you!
Wow a pumpkin festival that sounds really fun so sad we don't have that kind of festival here in the philippines but it was nice reading your blog about your fun festival 💕
I bet you have many festivals we don't have here.
I'm glad I am able to share something you don't have where you live or you've never seen before.
They are so sweet 🎃
Yes, they are!
Goodness the pumpkin is as big as the armchair seat 😍 by the way @erikah, what did you do with the one left at home?
There was none left at home. We got two and donated both to the restaurant, which has two entrances, so one pumpkin for each entrance.
Oohh I see 😁 sometimes I wonder what will happen to those big pumpkins after the festival is over. I mean those which are not crafting. Anyway, my favorite is the periodic table pumpkins 😍 looks simple but reminds me of the old school days.
Have a wonderful weekend, dear!
These pumpkins are staple food for animals but after being painted, you can't use them anymore, so my guess is these end up in the dumpster.
Thank you @cicisaja, you too enjoy your weekend and nice to see you're back!

Happy festive season Erikah. The pumpkin post is great to remind us that creativity should not be lacking. I've been following your trading posts, you're always very clear... what more can you ask for at this time of the year?
Best regards and my affection always.
PS. The minion pumpkin is cool.
