We visited Wyver Lane Nature Reserve and Carsington Reservoir to do a spot of bird watching. We spotted a jackdaw who had its pale beady eyes on us. The jackdaw is a small, black crow that has a silvery sheen on the back of its head.
The great crested grebe with lovely head plumes. Years ago, it used to be hunted for its feathers. The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) was set up to protect the bird from being wiped out.
The black headed gulls are actually a brown colour. To complicate it even more, in the winter they have a white head with dark brown spots on the side. You usually see them in small flocks and can be a bit noisy.
These are Barnacle Geese. I've never seen them before and are quite similar to Canada Geese. It was good to see something different.

Interesting birds, those Geese do look similar to Canada Geese.
Yes, not much difference between the two.
