A lesson in monochrome

in Photography Lovers2 years ago

When shooting in monochrome, you face the issue of creating tonal depth without color.

In any image achieving separation between key subjects within your frame can be what elevates an image from ordinary to excellent. This can be achieved through many methods - but when color is removed as an option, using tonal separation becomes key.

With tonal separation the strength of contrast and luminance become your only tools to separate one pixel from another.

Great depth can be still be achieve though through utilizing of the full range of luminosity. From the darkest through to the brightest luminance values.
