Conociendo la Habana (serie #1)/ Getting to know Havana (Series 1)

Hola querida comunidad, hoy les traigo una secuencia de la Habana, capital de Cuba. Pues le contaré que fue fundada en 1514 como la Villa de San Cristóbal de la Habana por el conquistador Pánfilo de Narváez, y fue una de las prineras ocho villas fundadas por la corona española en la isla.

Felipe II el 20 de diciembre de 1592, le confiere a la villa el título de "ciudad", puesto que la misma se había convertido en un importante centro comercial debido a las características de su bahía.

Para reforzar la bahía de los ataques de aquella época fue creada Muralla de la Habana

-Hello dear community, today I bring you a sequence of Havana, capital of Cuba. Well, I will tell you that it was founded in 1514 as the Villa de San Cristobal de la Habana by the conqueror Panfilo de Narvaez, and was one of the first eight villas founded by the Spanish crown on the island.

Es normal encontrar estos pasajes por la ciudad, las fotos no son más que los restos de la antigua Muralla de la Habana, a esta extensión se le denominó la garita de San Telmo.

La Muralla de la Habana alcanzó una extensión total de unos 2385 metros, cuya misión no era otra que defender el espacio costero, es por ello que el muro varía entre los 4 y 8 metros de altura, alternando con fortificaciones.

La garita de San Telmo corresponde a parte de la muralla terrestre, la cual comenzó a ser demolida en 1863, ante la necesidad de modernizar la ciudad y el aunmento de la urbanización.

The Havana Wall reached a total length of about 2385 meters, whose mission was none other than to defend the coastal space, which is why the wall varies between 4 and 8 meters in height, alternating with fortifications.

The San Telmo sentry box corresponds to part of the land wall, which began to be demolished in 1863, due to the need to modernize the city and the increase of urbanization.-
