When I was in the military, the artillery guys were known for being pretty crazy and having a good time. At the Civil War reenactment, it was no different for the cannon crews. During the battle, these guys just kept packing blasting their cannons off and must have been having a great time. It was a lot of fun to watch the cannons go off and the booms were pretty epic.

While this was a lot of fun to watch, I couldn't help but think how much devastation a cannon crew could actually do on the battlefield back then. During our trip, we saw trees that were ripped in half or had cannon balls stuck in them. These things could cause some serious damage as they tore through people. They really are a brutal weapon. I would not want to be on the receiving end of one of those cannon balls.

For the reenactment, they don't shoot off cannon balls or any projectile but use blank cartridges instead. They still aren't the safest things to be around and we needed to stay back pretty far from the cannon crew when they were firing. This was just another example of how cool these reenactments could be to see in person.

Amazing images, I really like the equipment these men wore, more than that I see they recreated moments from a war.

Thank you. Ya, they really did a great job with their outfits.

You can definitely tell those guys had a great time, and I also think you had fun shooting with your camera, the pictures turned out amazing. 👍

Thank you. Even though it was super hot those days I was there, I am glad I was able to take document it.

Great shots! Modern artillery pieces are safer to be around but a lot less safe to be at the receiving end of. Munitions come purpose made for inflicting maximal damage to an array of different types of targets.

I hope in certain quarters of the world cooler heads would prevail.

Hopefully one day we won't need this type of equipment in this world.

Democracies are much less likely to wage war on other countries than autocracies. That's because democracies are ruled by ordinary people moreso than autocracies and ordinary people are those who suffer the most from war. Autocracies need to fall.

What beautiful shots you have here dear friend @derangedvisions I love these period representations
I appreciate that you let us know these images

Thank you. I appreciate you stopping by and for the compliments.

Amazing piece of history. Love the clothes, and the artillery. Although you're right, i cannot imagine the devastion of that time with the use of those brutal cannons.

Thank you. It was so cool to see them in action.

my dear god those photos are really amazing and I wish I could take some of those photos some day and get on your level

I am sure you can. Just takes lots of practice.

The colour grade is EPIC! Great work! 👏🏾

Thanks man. I am happy with how they turned out.

Amazing pictures, it's awesome to go back in time with a dramatization.

There is lot of physics and mathematics involved in firing a cannonball. These guys chose safety first for firing only blank shots.

haha the guy with cigarette seems anxious to see his cannons in action. 🤣
