My first Time at Night | Mein erstes Mal bei Nacht

Hello people,

today I want to share my first experience of shooting the night sky. In contrast to my last post about insects I met so far this post will contain more story and less photos.
The unimaginable depths of the night sky were always really fascinating for me, so I had to try taking pictures of the stars myself. I had a weekend in mind where no moon was visible, but the weather forecast was not on my side. We had a lot of clouds all day and there were mixed reports on the cloud situation at night, but I decided to go on a walk anyways.

heute möchte ich meine erste Erfahrung vom Fotografieren bei Nacht teilen. Im Gegensatz zu meinem letzten Post über Insekten die ich bisher getroffen habe wird dieser Post mehr Erzählung und weniger Fotos beinhalten.
Die unvorstellbaren Tiefen des Nachthimmels waren schon immer sehr faszinierend für mich, also musste ich es unbedingt selbst probieren Fotos von Sternen zu machen. Ich hatte mir ein Wochenende ausgesucht an dem man den Mond nicht sieht, aber der Wetterbericht war nicht auf meiner Seite. Wir hatten den ganzen Tag viele Wolken und die Vorhersagen für nachts waren gemischt, aber ich habe mich trotzdem entschieden loszugehen.

I felt really prepared with all my camera gear and the red head lamp, but I maybe had some wrong assumptions how much I would see with the red light. After leaving my town I had to walk around a kilometer through a forest and realized that I can either watch the red circle in front of my feet or look farther away to see how the red light just disappears in the darkness. I decided to look at the red circle and maybe walked a tad faster. After this kilometer in red darkness I was happy to see a sky without too many clouds. There were still clouds when I was taking photos, but it was not as bad as I was expecting.

Ich habe mich sehr gut vorbereitet gefühlt mit meiner Kameraausrüstung und der roten Kopflampe, aber ich hatte eventuell ein paar falsche Vorstellungen wie viel ich mit dem roten Licht sehen würde. Nachdem ich meine Stadt verlassen habe musste ich ungefähr einen Kilometer durch einen Wald laufen und habe gemerkt, dass ich entweder den roten Kreis vor meinen Füßen anschauen kann oder weiter weg schauen kann um zu sehen wie das rote Licht in der Finsternis verschwindet. Ich habe mich dafür entschieden den roten Kreis anzuschauen und bin vielleicht ein bisschen schneller gelaufen. Nach diesem Kilometer in roter Finsternis war ich froh den Himmel nicht all zu bewölkt zu sehen. Es war trotzdem noch etwas bewölkt als ich fotografiert habe, aber nicht so schlimm wie ich erwartet habe.

I brought with me the EOS 2000D with a Sigma 18-35 f1.8 lens and a wireless remote control on my tripod. From different astrophotography channels on YouTube I had a basic idea what I have to do, but it was still a thrilling experience to test around and take photos I couldn't really judge before I saw them on my pc.

Mitgebracht habe ich die EOS 2000D mit einem Sigma 18-35 f1.8 Objektiv und einem kabellosen Fernauslöser auf meinem Stativ. Von verschiedenen Astrofotografie Kanälen auf YouTube hatte ich eine grundsätzliche Vorstellung was ich tun muss, aber es war trotzdem aufregend für mich zu testen und Fotos zu schießen die ich erst zu Hause am PC beurteilen konnte.

The light pollution was worse than I expected in this rural region, but it's not easy to find low polluted areas in general here in germany with the dense population. I took photo series of 10 and stacked them in Sequator to receive less noisy images with brighter stars.

Die Lichtverschmutzung war schlimmer als gedacht in dieser ländlichen Gegend, aber es ist allgemein nicht leicht wenig verschmutzte Gebiete hier in Deutschland zu finden mit der dichten Besiedlung. Ich habe 10er Fotoserien aufgenommen um sie in Sequator übereinander zu legen und rauschärmere Bilder mit helleren Sternen zu bekommen.

This is such a small window of the sky I captured, but yet there are these countless giant galaxies represented by small dots. That really blows my mind.

Das ist so ein kleines Fenster das ich vom Himmel aufgenommen habe und trotzdem sind da diese unzähligen, gigantischen Galaxien, dargestellt durch kleine Punkte. Das finde ich wirklich irre.

By far my favourite photo of this night is this photo of myself looking into the stars. This was one of my last shots before I left and I'm happy I had this idea last minute. That would not have been possible with the wired remote control I almost bought.

Mit Abstand mein Lieblingsbild dieser Nacht ist dieses Foto wie ich in die Sterne schaue. Es war eine der letzten Aufnahmen bevor ich aufgehört habe und ich bin glücklich, dass ich die Idee noch in letzter Minute hatte. Mit dem Kabelfernauslöser den ich fast gekauft hätte wäre das nicht möglich gewesen.

Already on my way home I got lucky again with a big hole in the clouds and took this last image of the night.

Schon auf meinem Heimweg hatte ich nochmal Glück mit einem großen Loch in der Wolkendecke und habe dieses letzte Bild der Nacht aufgenommen.
