Scenes from the Harbour

DSC09406.jpeg

Shortly after leaving the parliament grounds, and just across the street is the local harbour. Watching over the harbour is the Fairmont Empress hotel (which looks to be under construction). That would be a great place to stay, but probably costly. Plenty of yachts docked around here; even a live band playing around the corner! Want a snack or buy a few souveniers — this is the place. Check out the pontoon planes coming and going, pretty cool for a landlubber like myself. What a great day it was to be moseying around the harbour, blue skies and sun rays galore. Thanks for stopping by.

Looking at the pictures you've shown makes me feel like I'm on a trip there with you. There's so much to enjoy. It's truly a perfect trip.

Always welcome to come along for the ride!

That looks like a nice hotel, but I bet you're right. Not a cheap place to stay. I just checked the rates starting at $200 a night! Nice shot of the sea plane on approach, pretty cool shot.

Maybe next time out that way you can stay at the Empress too!

That hotel looks like a palace, very big and the that style... I really like it!

Didn't get a chance to go inside, but maybe during our next visit to the area.

Perfect weather, iconic views, and great photos—this is harbour life at its best .

Picture perfect day for hanging in the harbour. Thanks for looking.

Must be awesome to stay a night there - meaning two days, to look at all the antique stuff they must have inside. Since 1908 is that the Internet says.

Is that what Canada looks like now? Or are those older pictures? Winter here is almost black and white by default :-D

These photos are from last summer, and it was 30°C that day, now it is 5°C by contrast. Where abouts do you live?

I live in Ecuador, but currently visiting my family in northern Germany, where I'm from. We've got -3°C at the moment, were supposed to fly back tomorrow early morning, but everything got cancelled until next week. Snow...

I just started photographing a little more since I got a better cellphone camera (still practicing before I get real gear). I like the idea of doing color and the same in b/w. Do you have a special technique for finding what would work great in both?

Not exactly, as I publish every photo using both versions. That being said, single image photos and anything with a structure or building tend to work best.

Thank you for the hint! I'll be on the lookout for structures that I can turn into B/W.

beautiful city photos with black and white color combination, I like your post.

Thanks for stopping by.

I think that's cool man, not quite as cool as the Bessborough Hotel

Definitely cooler there.
