Cliffs of Kootenay

Not a New Year’s post, will save that for tomorrow. This is the spectacular Kootenay river, as it runs by Nipika Mountain resort, British Columbia. At this time of the year (September) the river is on the low side, imagine what this would look like during peak melt around late June early July! These canyon cliffs look really unique, I don’t recall ever seeing something so pretty before. I wonder how stable the walls are, year after year, the water erodes and nature carry’s on. Thanks for stopping by, and see you in 2025!

What a pretty place! The beautiful blue water and whitish cliffs. I wouldn't want to try to climb them though, erosion is sure to have made most of them a little unstable. It would be cool to see how much water there is in spring time though!

Definitely they would be unstable. Would love to come back and check this place out in the Spring time. Thanks.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

This breathtaking, I wonder how the cliffside was shaped and matching it with the turquoise river makes the site beautiful!

It definitely was, thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year from Canada!

Happy New year!, hope the weather is Okay in Canada?

It's survivable!

Such a spectacular beauty. The stones beneath the water is clearly visible, which means the water is so pure. Its appreciable that people around maintain it well with no litters.

Indeed, very clean, clear and pristine. Generally people do not litter in such places, closer to the cities though, yes.

Thank you, and all the best for 2025 yourself!

The cliff is pretty straight! Having minimal water, we can see all the marks on it. Also, we can see the colorful water and stones.

So, you captured these on last September?

Yes, later September. A magnificent to see up close and personal. Thanks for stopping by.

I think it's possible that the water can break through the years someday, but it might take a very long time and the rocks are quite solid. Beautiful shots

Over time, the effects of erosion can be astonishing! Thanks, and Happy New Year!

Happy new year to you too
