"Chasing the Blue Hour" (My Entry to the POB Photo Contest)

It’s been a while since I last participated in the POB photo contest, so I wanted to dedicate today’s post as my entry for the contest. The current theme is an intriguing one: the color BLUE!

I enjoy having colors as themes for photo contests because colors have a natural way of drawing us in. We make countless choices in our daily lives based on colors. For instance, we often choose clothing that reflects our favorite hues. It’s as if we’re always, either consciously or subconsciously, influenced by colors—even when we don’t realize it.

In my case, whenever I go on photo walks, if it’s possible, I always aim for the magical “Blue Hour”!

Every time I set out to explore a place in the city, it seems that photos look much better under the blue sky just before night takes over. It’s that fleeting moment of the day, lasting only a few minutes, that makes it so exciting to capture scenes during this specific time.

I feel it adds a unique touch to the photos I take.

With all the places I’ve walked through, it’s hard to choose a favorite because every place has a unique aspect that I appreciate. Comparing apples to oranges doesn’t seem wise, as none of them can truly be considered better than the others.

Every place I’ve visited has a distinctive quality that I feel responsible for discovering and capturing in my photos.

Some places have a serene vibe, and I aim to showcase that by highlighting their natural beauty.

In contrast, there are spots with a vibrant, exciting atmosphere where I focus on capturing the full spectrum of colors they offer.

Then, there are places with incredible architecture, where I tend to make the structures the main subject of my photos.

These are the conscious decisions I have to make while on a photo walk. My goal is to reveal the hidden beauty that’s often overshadowed by the distractions in the surroundings.

Every place I visit has its own story to tell, and capturing those unique moments through my lens makes the experience even more rewarding. Whether it’s the tranquility of nature, the vibrant energy of colors, or the grandeur of architecture, each photo walk is a new adventure. I hope these captured scenes inspire you to see the beauty in the little details around you.

Blue is my favorite color and your photos are flooded with blue, so they are gorgeous!
I didn't know about the blue hour, I used to call it twilight or wolf hour. Now I don't know if it's the same thing.
Many years ago we had a photography challenge where each day had a different color.

That's so cool! Blue is also my favorite color and I like its meaning.

I believe that Twilight is the same as the blue hour. But it's my first time hearing about Wolf Hour, by the way, that's an awesome name for a while in a day. Gonna be checking on that soon.

I bet having a daily photo challenge with colors as themes is cool!

I like what the color blue symbolizes.
The "Hour of the Wolf" was mentioned in an old Swedish movie directed by Bergman, it's about dusk when most suicides are believed to be, at least in Scandinavia.

The blue hour is great for street photography. The buildings and trees in combination with your good angles create perfect scenarios! Nice shots @curamax friend! Have a good weekend.

Very nice shots. Love the serenity feel of the cover photo especially.

Thanks man! I think the Japanese garden is probably the most serene part of Jurong lake.

The blue sky added its tranquil bringing beauty and enhance a breathtaking element of the shots. Nice one😍

Thanks for the nice comment. Indeed! I also think that the color blue has that tranquil effect.

The photographs are beautiful. The blue is dominant and makes them have a beautiful depth. It makes you keep looking at them.

Definitely a delight. : )

Thanks man! I'm glad that you liked my photos.

Have a good day!
