Hi Everyone
This is a collection of shots taken last week while wandering around Edinburgh.
I started the day out by walking up Calton Hill , a spot that offers great views over the city and is home to a few old monuments.
These first shots are of The Dugald Stewart Monument which was built in 1831.
This is a shot of an old Portuguese Canon that was cast in the early 15th century. The canon has been at this spot on Calton Hill since 1887.
This is a shot of The National Monument . This project was started in 1822 ,it was built to commemorate the Scots who fell in the Napoleonic Wars.
The monument is modelled on the Parthenon in Athens ,Greece.Only half of the money needed to complete the monument was raised and it 1829 work on the project stopped.
The lintels on top of the columns are the largest pieces of stone ever quarried in Scotland. They needed 12 horses and 70 men to carry them to the top of the hill.
As we head back down the hill towards the streets of Edinburgh I took this shot of a lamppost covered in stickers.
This spot offers some unique compositions. It is located right next to the Black bull pub.The best time to take photographs here is a dusk when the street lights are on and the sun is setting.
An impressive piece of Edinburgh architecture which I will certainly revisit to explore different lighting.
This is a shot of the River Leith taken while walking toward the botanic gardens.
An Ivy covered wall on an old book an antique store.
Antique store windows always offer interesting photographic opportunities.
If I had £65 to spare on this visit I might have picked up this Knight Light....
The Chinese Pavilion in Edinburgh's Royal Botanic Garden's
An old man was feeding the ducks while I snapped these shots.
This little duckling was happily looking for food in the shallow pond water.
These beautiful blue flowers line the pathways of the woodland garden.
A pond in the mountainous region of the gardens.
The same pond shot from the opposite side.
Another pond and waterfall in the mountainous area of the gardens.
The waterfall and pond in the shots above originate from this impressive waterfall.
The waterfall above flows under this bridge down to the pond below.
Some brightly coloured mountain flowers.
This shot is taken through the eye of a statue near the east gate of the gardens.
This pond is home to some young waterfowl.
Flags flying in the Nepalese area of the garden.
A peaceful spot to sit and chill out near the east gate of the gardens.
We'll that's all for now folks. I will leave you guys with this tranquil view of a bench near a pond under some willow trees. :).
