RE: Wandering Brazil II: Vila Madalena

in Photography Lovers2 days ago

We had some neighbors who moved down to Brazil for his job when I was a kid. We never got the chance, but it would have been cool to have gone down and visited them. It looks like a beautiful area.

Well, if you really mean it, you can get a return flight to São Paulo for like $500 from various cities in the US, especially if you start watching the prices for say March, which is the end of the rain season, likely the best time for a visit.

Everything there is a bargain then - accommodation, eating out, even car rentals (although they are insane drivers, I'd ratger suggest taking an Uber for short distances and a bus for long trips).

That's actually a lot cheaper than I would have expected from Boston. I'd probably be flying out of Detroit.

Okey, $600-700 right now. I guess you might want to combine it - go to Rio and return from Sampa or vice versa. The domestic flights are rather cheap then, for like $50 between these two cities.

The 4* hotel prices on the screenshots are real, the good ones would be like $30-40 per night though.

Wow, that is pretty crazy! I can't even get a camping site in the US for that low of a price! I don't know as though I have ever stayed in a hotel that is rated more than two or three stars.

Not sure about the location, but just for inspiration. 4 nights with breakfast included for a couple, Sampa downtown in March. 8.1 of 10 from hundreds of reviewers, and just $100.

Brazil is cheap :)

That's insane!

I guess a 4* hotel in Brazil would be like 3* hotel somewhere in the US, but you can definitely get a great deal down there :)

Just do what we did - do your research before booking, you don't really want to end up in a bad neighbourhood ;)

Yes, that would not be good. My luck that is exactly where I would end up!
