Words and photos will not do justice to the Amber fort in Jaipur. The majestic fort and palaces are something one needs to experience !
Amer Fort or Amber Fort is a fort located in Amer, Rajasthan, India. Amer is a town with an area of 4 square kilometres (1.5 sq mi)[1] located 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) from Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan.

The place is crowded - very very crowded. The moment you land, jeep drivers approach and nearly teleport you to a shop from which they get commission. The key word to look out for is the miniature Taj Mahal visit :-)
Its a steep walk to the top of the hill to get the majestic view of the mountains and the fort. There is a beautiful, elegant, massive palace inside the fort. One will be chased by around 200 guides, all claiming to be approved by government to give you a slice of the history in a platter. (Advice: act blind, deaf and mute to avoid them!).
Below the fort and the palace, there is an ancient village with houses, buzzing streets, many ruined villages, a step well and much more.
Here are few photos from that world:
[A temple which looks like restored to certain extend]
[Step wells - these were used to collect and store rain water and is a feature of many forts in Rajasthan]
[A lady carrying gober/cow dung]
[Cow dung getting dried to be used as fuel - its a common use cases in North India]
[A quick snapshot of the ruined temple]
[Horses probably taken to a wedding procession ... Just another normal day and normal sight]

LOL I like how you described the nagging of the tourist guides and how the agents the teleport you to the shops for a commission. Lovely pictures as well.
Since its the second visit, I knew how this was going to be and since there was lots of free time, played along. Thanks for the visit and comment !
Great, so you knew what to expect!
a very different style building
Animal manure is still used as fuel in other parts of the world
Didn’t knew that. Thanks for the info
I always like the mystical atmosphere of your temples.
Yea - they are peculiar. Active temples has even more vibrant atmosphere
Looks like M.C. Escher designed those steps! hahaha Great shots.
M.C. Escher :-D
This is one of the smaller step wells compared to others. But the stairs are well made in this one and are still intact.

I don't like when these places are so full of people who harass you and somehow want to get money from you.
On the other hand, the place looks very beautiful and is worth visiting.
Yea some touristy places are notorious for this behaviour.
Glad that you liked the place.
What a beautiful place 🙂
I have seen the Step Wells!!! I loved my trip to India. Oh man I miss traveling so much!
