All of these shots were taken a few years back on a Madeiran beach. I found it interesting that somebody (or probably more than one somebody) had invested time creating these cairns.
A small cairn
I don't think I would have the patience, I think as soon as the first stone fell I would give up. So I'm very impressed that people can spend so long creating these ephemeral pieces of art and then walk away.
Rocks, in black and white
I've seen some really intricately crafted cairns on line that make me wonder just how the "builder" / "artist"? was able to create them. But, as I don't know and didn't take pictures of them, I'm happy to share these images and still wonder at how incredible these three creations are.
