A Wonderful City: San Miguel Allende

Today I want to talk about "San Miguel Allende", one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico. I spent 1 day with my husband in November 2021 in this cute town.

This city is so beautiful that you feel as if you have traveled through time and teleported there.

The city is in the east of the State of Guanajuato. It is a wonderful city in the state capital, Guanajuato, and I will describe it in another article. If you happen to be here, be sure to see both.

It was wonderful to get lost in the colorful streets of San Miguel Allende, have a drink, watch the surroundings and take pictures.

It was not in vain that it was chosen as the best city in the world in 2017.

We could only stay 1 night in this beautiful city. If you have the time, I think it deserves at least 2 nights. It is really enjoyable at night as well as during the day. You experience a full Mexican culture with musicians singing and dancing in the square, street delicacies around the park, fun Mexican tunes from cafes, and delicious Mexican food.

We stayed in a house called 'casa' with 3-4 rooms, similar to our hostels, because we stayed at the last minute to book a place, and hotels were very expensive. The location of our casa is good, the price is affordable, the cleanliness and hygiene are super, the owners are also very sweet, we are very satisfied.

The cute casa called 'Casa Des Limas' is in the heart of the city, close to everywhere. The price was also 800 pesos, or around $40. My advice to you is to stay in the center. Because you will be very comfortable at night.

We came to this magical city with the car we rented from Mexico City. However, we never used a vehicle in the city. I recommend you to walk every inch of the city. You will want to take pictures at every corner.

First of all, of course, the Zocalo square in the center of the city. And the symbol of the city, the San Miguel Arcangel Cathedral.

This Cathedral was built in 1709 and its facade was completed between 1880 and 1890. It looks very imposing and stylish inside as well as outside.

You can have a pleasant time in the green 'El Jardin Park' located right across from the cathedral. There are many cute cafes around; You can eat or sip your coffee.

Except this,
You can visit the San Francisco church because its architecture is amazing. We could only visit in the evening.

As I said, you need to stay at least 2 nights and 3 days. We didn't have enough time.

The San Juan de Dios Temple is also among the places to visit.

You can also have a good time in Benito Juarez Park. Although it is a bit far from the center, we walked.

As in every city, there is a very nice open market here. You can find very nice souvenirs in the 'Mercado de Artesanias'

There is a History museum right in the square. While we were there, unfortunately, we could not visit as it was closed on Tuesday.

It has a nice and extensive library.

If you like chocolate, there is a chocolate museum.

This city is also very famous for its doors and indeed all of the doors look beautiful.

It is possible to find cute cafes, restaurants, art galleries, boutique and design hotels, Casas, and lush parks in every corner of San Miguel Allende.

San Miguel Allende has already taken its place among unforgettable memories.
