Memories of the everyday and simple: The Goodbyes.

Photography brings the mind and memories back to a moment in history, whether recent or distant, and relives emotions.

How many of us look at photographs taken long ago, even of places where we lived as children, and they bring back memories, whatever they may be, but memories nonetheless.

When I went to this art exhibition, the same thing happened to me, even though the photographs were not mine and neither were the artist's experiences, but it made me remember my own and similar places I have been to.

The artist's name is Mariló Jiménez Baena and the art exhibition is called The Goodbyes.

Walking through this exhibition I realised that these were photographs of some house, apparently in a village, perhaps where the artist lived at some point, and next to the photographs were writings by Mariló. They express feelings and thoughts she has about that place or that photograph.

The best of all is that the writing was in both languages, that's why I also bring it in the respective order, being in Spanish and English, it is possible to be understood by everyone.

My sensation when I saw the exhibition was to remember certain spaces or places, possibly from my childhood, doors, gardens, and objects that belong to another era, quite distant in time but very common. I remembered the times of my grandparents, where many of these objects I have seen in their houses.

When I saw the antique clock I remembered my maternal grandmother and what clocks were like in those days.

The same thing happened to me with the chair, the trousers and the shoes, it reminded me of the countryside, although I have lived very little of that period.

When I saw the piece of honeycomb, I remembered that there were many of them in my house in Argentina and what the wasps did.

Seeing photographs of, for example, washing clothes or the same clothes hanging on the line, took me back to my childhood. The same thing happened to me with every object in the photos, the kitchen utensils, the glass, the door.

In the case of the door, I thought that the same glass was on the doors of my house, far away.

Simple objects, of everyday life, but that say a lot or bring back moments that one may think one has forgotten. Just looking at them brings back those memories.

Through the exhibition you could go through the different spaces of a house and go on a journey to moments in your life, I think that's why the exhibition is called The Goodbyes, perhaps the goodbye to many things that these objects represent, even people.

In particular, I liked the photos of the patio or garden very much, it took me back in time to different places, it was a pleasant journey.

Among the photographs I really liked the one of the tree trunk, the clock, the water falling on the clothes. Those were my favourites.

And I was also pleased to see in the exhibition not only photographs but also objects, like the chair, the bottle with the glass and the bible with the glasses. Those objects were right there, palpable and transported me to other moments. I suppose that many of the things in this exhibition take us all somewhere in the past and say goodbye.

It has been interesting to go through this exhibition which is located in the El Ateneo gallery in the city of Málaga and which will be on show until 21 February. A great gallery that gives space to the artists to present their works and that is constantly renewed month after month.

Thank you very much for joining me today. I wish you all a very good Sunday. See you soon.
Amonet.

All photographs are my own.

Thank you so much!😃

I loved that you attended this exhibition, and I think that all the people who did, had the same impression as you. It is almost impossible, I would say, not to feel identified with this work.
Have a beautiful Sunday. How are you, dear friend @avdesing? Good morning.

It's a nice trip down memory lane. Thank you very much always!😃

Great photographic exhibition. One can sense how the photographer tries to carefully arrange the scene. Photography used to be very expensive, so I can imagine that they had to be careful with their shots. We have come a long way with modern digital photography. I can take a hundred shots and just delete what's not needed. Fantastic exhibition!

You are absolutely right, at that time every photograph counted and it was necessary to be precise, today we can take many and simply discard the bad ones. I enjoyed every one of those photographs. Thank you very much!

What a beautiful and magical exhibition you have brought. And the texts, they are wonderful.

I have imagined my mother talking to her mother (my grandmother), the necessary farewell, the farewell to a life of mourning and without fear of what people will say.

The photos, as you have already said, are very evocative, and also bring to my memory old family scripts.

Thank you very much for this wonderful journey through time and memory.

A big hug @avdesing.

It was a luxury to find this exhibition, I liked it very much, it reminded me of my ancestors, thank you for your nice comment!!! Thank you!🤗

What a two of you who have come together in Hive, I was in nanixxx's post, and I don't know what to say, you both have touched me so much.

Thank you very much to you, it is a luxury to be able to savor your publications.

Nanixxx, it's on the way... it's great!!! You have made a great publication!

Thank you!!!

Yes, for the first part; thank you for the second part (I never tire of thanking you). And little more I can tell you... maybe.... thank you 😃

And there are two more samples, one in steel and the other in clay and wood... I died when I saw them! I don't have enough days for everything hahaha I need 14 day weeks hahaha

I'm off for dinner, good night!

Hasta mañana!! Y buenas noches!! 👋

Muchas gracias Gloria!🤗

This exhibition is fantastic. A very beautiful way of telling the story of life, between photographic images and words. So many sensations come to the surface at every moment that it is like a cyclical journey, although here in a documentary way the time is very well defined.

Great!

The artist manages to arouse emotions, and that is fantastic. Thank you very much Nani!🤗
