Hello dear friends,

It looks like it's going to be a very good year for porcini, too, after the gigantic summer of chanterelles. I've been to the forest three times in the last few days and have found more and more.

so wie es aussieht, scheint es nach dem gigantischen Pilzsommer hinsichtlich Funden von Massen an Pfifferlingen nun auch bei den Fichtensteinpilzen ein sehr gutes Jahr zu werden. In den letzten Tagen war ich drei mal im Wald und habe stetig mehr gefunden.

Interestingly, the porcini grow in exactly the same places where I was able to find chanterelles in summer. In my case, this is deciduous forest, especially under oak trees. The places where I actually find them tend to be in the coniferous forest. But there is still a yawning emptiness there at the moment.

Interessanterweise wachsen die Steinpilze exakt an den Stellen, an denen ich im Sommer die Pfifferlinge finde konnte. In meinem Falle ist das Laubwald, v.a. unter Eichen. Meine eigentlichen Fundstellen sind eher im Nadelwald verortet. Dort herrscht aber im Moment noch gähnende Leere.

Penny buns (boletus edulis) have the advantage over summer ceps of not being eaten through quite so quickly and heavily by maggots and worms. However, it is not uncommon for a dung beetle to make itself at home in the thick stalk of a king bolete.

Fichtensteinpilze haben gegenüber dem Sommersteinpilz den Vorteil, nicht ganz so schnell und stark von Maden und Würmern durchfressen zu sein. Nicht selten macht es sich aber ein Mistkäfer im dicken Stiel der Steinpilze gemütlich. Weniger logisch mag erscheinen, daß der Fichtensteinpilz auch unter Eichen wächst. Ist aber definitv so. ;-)

Of course, I only take the really usable specimens from the forest. Of course, I leave very old specimens where the tubes are already going olive. The fruiting bodies can continue to sprout and ensure the preservation of the species.

Freilich entnehme ich dem Wald nur die wirklich brauchbaren Exemplare. Sehr alte Exemplare, wo die Röhren schon ins olive gehen, lasse ich natürlich stehen. Die Fruchtkörper können weiter aussporen und für den Erhalt der Art sorgen.

However, the coveted porcini mushrooms are a mass mushroom here in Franconia. Nevertheless, I've seen people who take totally old porcini mushrooms home to dry. This is not advisable. Mushrooms have a lot of protein, and eating decomposed protein often leads to severe poisoning in the gastrointestinal tract - so-called secondary mushroom poisoning. Caution is really advised here.

Allerdings sind die begehrten Steinpilze bei uns in Franken ein Massenpilz. Trotzdem habe ich schon Leute gesehen, die auch total alte Steinpilze zum Trocken mit nach Hause nehmen. Davon ist eher abzuraten. Pilze haben viel Eiweis, und der Verzehr zerfallenen Eiweises führt des öfteren zu teilweise schweren Vergiftungen im Magen - Darmtrakt - sogenannte sekundäre Pilzvergiftungen. Hier ist wirklich Vorsicht geboten.

At the moment I'm producing two Hypertechno tracks in parallel again. For me, picking mushrooms in the forest - whether on foot or by bike - is a very good way to relax. But my two current singles are still performing very well.

_Im Augenblick produziere ich wieder parallel an zwei Hypertechno Tracks. Für mich ist das Pilze sammeln im Wald - egal ob zu Fuß oder mit dem Rad - ein sehr guter Ausgleich. Meine beiden aktuellen Singles laufen aber noch sehr gut. _

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the 2024 mushroom year continues to develop. So far, as I said, it has been a very good mushroom year for me. It was only quieter in mid-August to mid-September. That's not surprising, because that was the first time this year that the weather was dry for an extended period of time.

Ich bin wirklich gespannt, wie sich das Pilzjahr 2024 weiterhin entwickelt. Bislang war es wie gesagt für mich ein sehr gutes und etragreiches Jahr. Lediglich im Mitte August bis Mitte Semptember war es ruhiger. Das ist nicht verwunderlich, denn da war es das erste mal in diesem Jahr wettertechnisch für eine längere Zeit am Stück durchgehend trocken.
