MacroPhotography - Hübner's Wasp Moth & Tortoise Beetle

PSX_20241123_202717.jpg

Insects are the same as other creatures, namely through the mating process in order to reproduce or in an effort to increase offspring. It's a special, fun moment to hunt insects and then find them mating.

And that's what I experienced a few days ago while hunting for insects in the bushes in a remote village. Yeah, I found two interesting species of insects while they were mating, a special & rare moment in my opinion. Because we can find insects at any time, but only at certain times can we accidentally find them while they are mating.

The first insect was an identified moth species called Amata huebneri, This insect species in the Erebidae family is also known as Hübner's Wasp Moth. This term makes sense because at first glance this moth resembles a wasp in both shape and color.

Then the second species of insect is no less interesting than the wasp moth above, I also photographed this insect while they were mating. And something interesting about this insect is the shell that protects its body. At first glance, the shape of this insect looks like a lady bug, but because it is covered in a shell that is like a tortoise shell, this insect is often called a tortoise beetle.

And scientifically the tortoise beetle is part of the beetle called Charidotella sexpunctata, unfortunately I didn't have time to take photos of them in large numbers because maybe this beetle was embarrassed when it saw them mating so it ran away in a hurry :)
