Strolling along the beach-side with my camera in hand has always been one of my favourite pastimes and this particular day down in Ballito was no exception. As I meandered along the promenade I captured the beauty of crashing waves, weathered rocks and fascinating driftwood and solitary trees.
When I looked over my photos later that day, I found myself drawn to transforming the scenes to black and white. Despite my love for the colours of the ocean and the vibrance that comes with colour photographs, I thought that the absence of colour would accentuate the raw character and emotion of the shots. Light and shadows seem to bring a new depth to the images and bring emphasis to the texture of the rocks and waves.
So, while I cherish the vivid colours of our South African seas under the summer sun, this journey to monochrome has allowed me to enjoy a new form of expression that speaks to the timeless elegance and grace of our coastal landscapes.

Hello @ajchampz.
Please keep in mind that the #monomad tag is supposed to be used only with black and white photography published in the black and white community. Basically as the entry ticket for our daily challenge with the same name. It's a contest tag, and not a generic one like #blackandwhite #photography #life #nature, etc.
Got it, my apologies!
