Adam's Apple is the tenth album by post-bop jazz artist Wayne Shorter. Recorded in 1966 and released in 1967, it included the first recording of his composition "Footprints", later recorded by the Miles Davis Quintet for the album Miles Smiles (1967). Shorter is featured with pianist Herbie Hancock, bassist Reggie Workman and drummer Joe Chambers. Adam's Apple is the first track . It is a post bop type blues with a very interesting rhythmic setup. Footprints is now a jazz standard. It is a C minor blues in 6/4 time with a unique turnaround change. The abstract post bop tune The Collector is added on this bonus reissue album. The playing on the album is excellent all around with special attention to the marvelous piano stylings of Herbie Hancock. Shorter's unique compositional style and soloing makes this one of his best efforts.
