The music video was released on the 4th of July which was independence day in America(USA to be precise). Juneteenth was the real independence for all when it comes to all Americans. He basically called Drake a coloniser on both days.
Before releasing the music video, he released a series of images teasing about the video with a photo of him smacking a hollow owl pinata and below it was a disclaimer: "No Ovhoes were harmed during the making of this video".
He also dropped a picture of him, his wife and their two kids therefore debunking the fact that Kendrick lives away from his family, he and his wife aren't together, and one of his kids isn't his.
The first thing we see from Whitney is she's on a wifebeater, debunking the rumor of Kendrick allegedly beating her up. The whole family dancing on Drake's grave was a good clapback and Whitney cripwalking in a wife beater was diabolical.
The music video also dispells the rumor about him not being close with Dave Free anymore. Dave free and Kendrick directed the video together, he also directed the pop out show. All of these strikes out any narratives when it comes to whether or not they are close. PG Lang remains strong as ever.
Also, all narratives surrounding Top Dawg, distorting him, not being close with his label, TDE, Black hippy, they are seen together in this video all smiling.
Scenes from the music video:
- DeMar Derozan was in the video, a hero in Toronto. He was the next Vince Carter for Canada. Drake and he were great friends. He's from Compton though so he's basically showing allegiance to show where he stands.
- Kendrick did push ups to reference Drake telling him to drop and give him 50. The push up was 17 and half, he gets up, goes back on the stool to do half of another push up but never comes back out. A reference on a minor because he knew Drake didn't want it over 18.
- He's seen doing the hopscotch during the "A Minor" line which is crazy because that's a kid's activity. He even blends the lyrics with fans screaming along to the line in the background.
- The shipping containers Kdot was in front of with Winter Rosen, Dave Free and the dancers is a reference to the shipping of prostitutes since Baka had a case for human trafficking.
- When he was in the car during the park line he was with Mustard looking like Shug and Pug when they were riding around on Pac's last days.
- He ended the video by showing an owl in a black cage probably to insinuate that Drake is caged in or that the OVO team are soon going to be behind bars.
On the intro to the song Kdot was previewing he stated he's now reincarnated which was on July 4th. Pac's last performance was July 4th, 1996. I think he's saying he's Pac reincarnated.
Did you know?
- Wop is an Italian slur for those without paper.
- Not Like Us has it's own Wikipedia page.
- We have a potential release date for either a new song or album on the side of Kdot's jacket which says 8/8/2024.
- Kida The Great was one of the dancers in the music video.
- In just 13hours after the release the song was on 12million views.
I personally don't think Drake would be able to provide a clapback to this video.
