It was so popular in my class. Music was so popular to me when I was still in Junior Secondary school. I listened to music but I never really bothered to note who sang the particular song I was listening to or what the name of the song was,I just danced and moved my body to it randomly. It wasn't till I entered Jss2 I realized I wanted to know more about this music and I'd admit I was also a little intimidated and felt less whenever other students in class would start asking each other if they knew a particular song or artist or knew a particular lyric and I'd have no idea what they were saying. I still interacted with people a lot then and my entire being wasn't closed off when it came to human interaction so I cared about what others were doing and although I didn't want to be like them,I was fascinated about how they'd spend so much time memorizing the names of each artiste and their songs.
Honestly, the only things I cared about then was drawing and getting my grades up. But at 11, I decided I wanted to know more, wanted to explore.
Now,I didn't have a phone yet and my younger sisters didn't let me watch channels that showed music videos because they wanted to watch cartoons just like I did so I'd listen to music on an old stereo set we had in our house back then.
It was Friday and Damilola from school was singing a song I had no idea of. I wanted to know what song it was because I liked how it sounded. I didn't ask her the name of the song because there was no need for it and I had no way to search for the song or listen to it. On another day,Saturday to be exact, around 12pm; I was searching for a radio channel to listen to then stumbled on one that was playing some songs. They were really good so I let the channel stay. To my surprise they were reviewing top songs in the world and playing them. I was thrilled about this.
Every Saturdays and Sundays around 12pm, I'd take the stereo set to my room and just start listening to it. As I grew more fond of it,i realized it was time for me to start caring about the names of the artistes and the names of their songs so I got a notebook and named it my Song book. I wrote the names of artistes and their songs as they said it on the channel before letting their music play. I was glad I found something to atleast feel among in class.
As I got older, I decided I didn't like the fact I discovered music to try and fit in cause that was how it always was. I was always trying to change and evolve into something likeable and admirable to others. I realized even though I was angry at myself for picking up something akin to what was the topic of the day,I couldn't stop listening to music. So I let it stay and I'm glad I did.
The songs I picked for Three Tunes Thursday are as follows:
Dark Horse by Katy Perry and Juicy J. I've been listening to this for a very long time and I like it a lot so I decided to share it with you guys.
Chihiro by Billie Eilish. Honestly,Billie is part of the 10% artiste with unique sounds now. She's just different and creates beautiful music. I'd love if you listened to this too.
Smooth Criminal by Micheal Jackson. I hope you can moonwalk cause I can and it's not good;)
I'd like to thank @ablaze and the community, you guys for having me for @threetunestuesday
Thanks for reading.
