Linda Perry is a singer, songwriter and record producer. In the early 1990s she had a worldwide hit with the song What's Up? from 1992. At that time, she was the voice of the band 4 Non Blondes which was formed in 1989, I remember another song of theirs, this time a cover of the song Misty Mountain Hop by Led Zeppellin in 1995.
She worked in 1994 with the group The Who in the production called Roger Daltrey A Celebration: The Music of Pete Townshend and The Who singing Doctor Jimmy, Acid Queen, I'm Free (a duet with Roger Daltrey) and Join Together.
Linda split from the group in 1995 due to creative differences as the group wanted to follow a too commercial path.
Her first album as a soloist dates from 1996 and is called In Flight, an album produced by William Bottrell, who was a collaborator of Michael Jackson and Madonna.
It is an exquisite album, where if we close our eyes the voice of the singer penetrates to the depths of our mind, the singer takes over us and does what she wants, introducing us into a fascinating world. An example of this is the song Knock Me Out, which she performs with none other than Grace Slick (singer and composer of Jefferson Airplane, Jefferson Starship and Starship).

In this song the singer reproaches a person who cares about her as she sees how she self-destructs, but at the same time loves her and asks her not to leave her alone with her self-destructiveness.
This song appears on the soundtrack of the sequel to the famous movie The Crow, called The Crow: City of Angels.
In 1997, he launched his own record label, Rockstar Records. In 1999, he released his second solo album on Rockstar Records, After Hours. For the remainder of 1999, he opened for Bryan Adams. In 2001, Perry returned to music and touring. Writing songs for Christina Aguilera's hit album Stripped. In 2001, she closed most of her shows with Beautiful, a song she hoped would be her own comeback hit.
She has been a songwriter and producer for Pink, and has worked with artists such as Courtney Love, Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, Celine Dion, Robbie Williams, James Blunt, Cheap Trick, Faith Hill, Adele, Enrique Iglesias, Ariana Grande, Ziggy Marley, Vanessa Carlton, Miley Cyrus, Dolly Parton and many others.
For me this version of Beautiful has more feeling than Christina Aguilera's version.Simple and direct.

Linda Perry writes an anthem to all of us who have ever felt insecure, when our self-esteem is at rock bottom and all we want to do is hide.
Finally, it is impossible not to present What's Up? A song that expresses the restlessness of a woman who alludes to the patriarchal society, dominated by men, and proclaims the need for a revolution, repeatedly questioning: What's going on?

There may be many versions of the song, but listening to its original interpreter and writer does not merit any comparison, she is the owner of this song.
Currently, Linda Perry is one of the most sought after songwriters because of her sensitivity in writing songs that have a high probability of becoming hits for artists. She has not stopped singing and expressing herself, however she has done much better in the world of songwriting for others.
Dear community, this is my entry in the Three Tune Tuesday Week 93 initiative promoted by @ablaze. Let's discover more music!
Great history lesson on Linda Perry, I knew her from some of what you mention, but after listening to In Flight, I am going to check out the "exquisite" album that you mentioned, nice one. She sounds like quite the story teller. Great #ttt post again, keep them coming.
Thanks so much , in fact she is very wanted as a songwriter she rarely has more success as a songwriter than as a performer. it's a pleasure to do these posts on Tuesdays!!!. Best Regards.
Geez, I haven’t heard her name in years, and I didn’t realize that she worked so much as a songwriter. Very cool to know.
Her voice has gotten a little weaker, but it still sounds great.
You're right, however live she still sounds great and shows passion and love for what she does. Cheers.
