It seems that every second Sunday is the day for the #SadSunday post !! Two weeks ago I wrote about soundtracks, and I mentioned Hans Zimmer and the movies Inception and Interstellar. I also mentioned the film The English Patient and from that movie, I stressed out the singing of Sebestyén Márta. She is a Hungarian singer and has a unique style.

The Pianist also found its place in my post, where music composed by Frederic Chopin had the main role. Finally, Eric Serra's music was mentioned, the soundtrack from the movie Leon. I enjoyed writing that post and later engaging with other great users who came to give me some feedback and shared their opinion. Nice people, indeed.

A few days after the post was published, @edje joined the post with his interesting comment, and at the end, he asked me what did I think about music from the movie The Piano, composed by Michael Nyman. Wow, just beautiful music written for that movie. Fortunately, I have the music sheets for that soundtrack, but I have never performed it as it seemed a bit difficult to play. The most famous track is the theme called The Heart Asks Pleasure First, and this piece is what I have been practising for this occasion. Nothing impossible, of course, but some hours of studying were needed if I wanted to play it.

So, I managed it, after two weeks of working on it. The left-hand pattern was the most challenging, as actually, it was somehow always different, and I could not figure it out so quickly. Neither happened it now perfectly, but I can play it, at least :)

There are some six pages of playing this kind of broken chords, without a major break:

However, here it comes, but the video will not show just my hands playing it. This will be a video made on the seashore, the make some resemblance to the real movie. In the film, the main person, the pianist lady arrives at an island with her daughter and her piano. I will not provide any more details, as I already said, it was a beautiful film production, but I felt so sad because of some particular scenes, that I promised not watching it again. Although, my decision is getting a bit weaker, so maybe, just maybe one day I will watch it again. However, because of that sadness, it is just perfect music for this Sad Sunday edition.

I had a bit of help from @ph1102 who made the videos of me on that small rocky beach. The waves these days were strong, so the sea is not clear and blue. The scenery of shooting this morning:

It was really fun to work on it. On learning the piece and recording it first, and then going to the beach to make the videos. I laughed most of the time, so I would be a bad actress. No wonders, why you almost don't see my face, I could not stop smiling and laughing. But let us pretend I am sad and serious there.

Let me know what do you think about this piece and the movie The Piano if you watched it. Any feedback about this small video is very welcome too. I hope you will enjoy listening to it. Have a nice Sunday evening everyone!!

Well done, you really took it to the next level!
Excellent job, and the performance was also very good ^^

I haven't watched the movie The Piano, but will check it out!

Thank you so much for checking out this post!
I am glad you liked the "production" hehe. It was family made as in your case :) But just two of us, and no haunters in the forest :D

In one moment I wanted to make the video as monochrome, but then I saw the sky and sea...and it stayed in colour.

WEEHOO! You done it... Not thinking you would try to play something from this movie. But you did it and outdone yourself with the entire production. Love the music, but also really like the video! Guess your husband wrote the text 'The Piano'? Or do you have such nice handwriting yourself....Can't be {LOL}

Gotcha: I saw you smiling in the video! Proof that even sad music on #sadsunday is in fact not sad at all :)

You know what? Yesterday a rerun of Interstellar was on TV and I decided to chill on my lounge couch and enjoy the 2,5 to 3 hrs cinematic experience on my somewhat first generation LCD TV. What a co-inckidink :) Maybe a rerun of the Piano is schedules soon; When so, I'll jump on it, maybe I 'll close my eyes for the duration of the movie, just to listen the music. And then after, I'll gonna bother you with the question to play the whole soundtrack HAHAHAHAHA noooooo I wouldn't do that :)

noooooo I wouldn't do that :)

Noooo, you wouldn't... I bet you would!! And then, after I make it you would ask me again why I can't just sit and do nothing! :p

Handwriting...my husband is an expert in deciphering illegible handwritings...I will just say that :D

There was another song from The Piano, I started to play a bit too, but then I just changed my mind and went back to the one that is the most emblematic for that film. The Heart Asks Pleasure First. The other one is not so interesting I think, but should give it a try, depends on how many boring afternoons I will have... :)

I bet you would!! And then, after I make it you would ask me again why I can't just sit and do nothing! :p

Apparently, I don't need a lot of convincing for you to jump on something. Sometimes am really surprised you found a trigger for something in what I'm writing....Am writing BS only anyway 😂😂😂

It is because I filter the good things and The Piano soundtrack is definitely something that was worth of it :)

The Piano by BroPiano - love it! The video is very nice too although I've not seen the movie you mention but enjoyed the scenery and now I wish I was by the beach too!

Awesome work on the chords as well, the sheet music picture looks challenging and if you say it was tough then I believe you but you made it look and sound easy 😃

Thank you Nicky, yes, I should call the post as you say :))))

The beach time was the most funny, I enjoyed the time spent there :D The practicing part was a bit challenging, yes, but I am happy I managed somehow... although there is one missed note, sure everybody heard it but nobody wanted to stress it out hahaha. 🤣

Thank you for checking out bro 😇

Such a perfectionist but it's in our nature as musicians as we lynch our own hard work and effort! I didn't notice this missed note mitiano! 😊

Oh, great...it was a tiny one anyway 😇

First you tantalise the readers mind with photos of music, then you show us of a video of you on the beach trying to fly and then...That legit picture!

Great post, thanks for the video...Watched whilst in my office wishing I was in a location like that!

So I did it!! The photo of those small black dots playing around on and between the lines... achieved its mission :D
And you see why I was laughing all the time while shooting the "flying me" videos 🤣

I hope that just you saw this comedy for sad Sunday in your office 😅
Thank you so much for your comment and support, the place is amazing indeed!

Have a great week @galenkp 🙌😊

Well, as I sat there watching your wings flapping I was thinking to myself that you'll have to flap a lot faster if you really want to take flight. There's other options though.

Hahaha, that hurts even to see!

I will better stay with my version :)

Lol...Yes, you're probably right...Your version seems much less painful. Stick with it, but flap harder!

That song from the Piano is one of my favorites. I taught myself to play (a very simple version of it) after listening to it. A few years later a friend showed me the correct way to play it, that left hand really is tricky. I am unable to read more complicated sheet music and rely on my ear to learn the songs. I wish I could play it better though.

Ah, you play it so beautifully @mipiano, thank you for sharing.
Muchos abrazos 💚✨🙏

Oh and is that Albir beach in the video? The video is awesome too :-) xx

Hahah, yes, you see Albir beach, but this a small rocky beach. Do you remember that house on the cliff, when you go towards Faro? That is there, you go to the cliff and if you have luck you reach the beach without falling down 🤣

Yes, I remember that house well. Yes, my daughter tried to swim around there one time.

It is sop pretty there. xx

Thank you my dear @holisticmom 💖
This is indeed a beautiful piece, but I never played it until now. As I received that question do I like Nyman, I learned it 🎶 and I didn't regret it.

Muchísimas gracias por escucharme 🤗
