En esta oportunidad, ahondaremos en un tema de gran relevancia dentro del contexto de la cultura popular, en especial para este servidor, ya que emprenderemos un viaje psicodélico hacia el lado más experimental de la buena música con uno de sus mayores referentes, pues muy probablemente muchos de nosotros aún los recordemos con suma nostalgia debido a que fungieron ser, y siguen siendo en la actualidad, una gran fuente de inspiración y diversificación musical para los amantes del rock en todas sus expresiones.
In this opportunity, we will delve into a topic of great relevance within the context of popular culture, especially for this server, as we will undertake a psychedelic journey to the most experimental side of good music with one of its major references, as many of us probably still remember them with great nostalgia because they were, and still are today, a great source of inspiration and musical diversification for lovers of rock in all its expressions.

¡Por supuesto! Resulta inevitable no pensar en Pink Floyd al hablar de psicodelia, densidad y experimentación sensorial derivada de sonidos con gran profundidad ya que ellos, en su forma más orgánica, destacan por haber sido una de las bandas más prolíficas del rock progresivo de todos los tiempos, al menos en mi opinión. Compuesta, como es costumbre en toda buena banda de rock, por los británicos Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason y el fallecido Richard Wright, el grupo ha sido catalogado como uno de los más grandes e influyentes para nosotros en la historia de la música anglosajona, y sus composiciones, caracterizadas por ser bastante complejas y por la fuerte incorporación de elementos sonoros dignos de todo viaje astral, han surtido un efecto enorme en la contemporaneidad.
Of course! It is inevitable not to think of Pink Floyd when talking about psychedelia, density and sensorial experimentation derived from sounds with great depth since they, in their most organic form, stand out for having been one of the most prolific progressive rock bands of all times, at least in my opinion. Composed, as is customary in any good rock band, by the British Roger Waters, David Gilmour, Nick Mason and the late Richard Wright, the group has been catalogued as one of the greatest and most influential for us in the history of Anglo-Saxon music, and their compositions, characterized by being quite complex and by the strong incorporation of sonorous elements worthy of all astral travel, have had an enormous effect on contemporaneity.
Ya habiéndose posicionado como una de las agrupaciones más importantes dentro de la escena subterránea inglesa para su época tras el éxito comercial rotundo de su álbum debut "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn", la década de los años 70's fue la que realmente empoderó a la banda al punto de alcanzar el estrellato internacional con el magnífico trabajo realizado en ”The Dark Side of the Moon" y otros álbumes emblemáticos de su discografía, como el fenomenal “The Wall”, que desde mi perspectiva personal resulta ser otro álbum esencial en la música, siendo estos aclamados por la crítica y logrando sumar ventas de cientos de millones de copias alrededor de todo el globo y cosechando una gran variedad de premios.
Already having positioned themselves as one of the most important groups within the English subway scene for their time after the resounding commercial success of their debut album "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn", the decade of the 70's was the one that really empowered the band to the point of reaching international stardom with the magnificent work done in "The Dark Side of the Moon" and other emblematic albums of their discography, such as the phenomenal "The Wall", which from my personal perspective turns out to be another essential album in music, being critically acclaimed and achieving sales of hundreds of millions of copies around the globe and reaping a variety of awards.

Siguiendo tal orden de ideas, el icónico "The Dark Side of the Moon" destaca, además de lo conceptual y su reconocido prisma como portada, por ser una obra maestra del estilo atmosférico y muy progresivo, pues su complejidad musical en concordancia con sus letras introspectivas y cargadas de un inmenso valor filosófico, al menos para mí, le confieren una fluidez exquisita con toques precisos de suavidad, creando así una sensación auditiva continua y cohesiva con diversa proporcionalidad de matices.
Following such order of ideas, the iconic "The Dark Side of the Moon" stands out, besides the conceptual and its recognized prism as a cover, for being a masterpiece of the atmospheric and very progressive style, because its musical complexity in accordance with its introspective lyrics and loaded with an immense philosophical value, at least for me, give it an exquisite fluidity with precise touches of softness, thus creating a continuous and cohesive auditory sensation with diverse proportionality of nuances.
Ahora bien, he notado que algunos de los temas más recurrentes en la música de Pink Floyd son la alienación y la desconexión emocional del ser humano. En un sentido más específico, las letras de las canciones que hacen vida dentro de éste álbum en especial contextualizan temas como la locura, la mortalidad, la guerra y el éxito, siendo tales tópicos combinados con efectos inquietantes de sonido y elevadísimos solos de guitarra que, sin duda alguna, hacen de la obra un diamante en bruto para los seguidores dentro y fuera del género.
Now, I have noticed that some of the most recurrent themes in Pink Floyd's music are alienation and the emotional disconnection of the human being. In a more specific sense, the lyrics of the songs that make life within this album especially contextualize themes such as madness, mortality, war and success, such topics being combined with haunting sound effects and soaring guitar solos that undoubtedly make the work a diamond in the rough for fans inside and outside the genre.

Ejemplificando lo dicho anteriormente, pero antes recomendando ser escuchado de principio a fin, la canción de apertura, "Speak to Me", establece el tono para el álbum con una introducción de melodías desconcertantes y voces susurrantes casi al punto de parecer psicofonías, "Breathe" es una canción atmosférica y relajante que evoca una sensación de paz y tranquilidad, mientras que "On the Run", una gran canción para mí, se caracteriza por ser electrizante y frenética, capaz de crear sensaciones constantes de peligro y urgencia en el oyente.
Exemplifying what was said above, but first recommending to be listened to from beginning to end, the opening track, "Speak to Me", sets the tone for the album with an introduction of unnerving melodies and whispering vocals almost to the point of sounding like psychophonies, "Breathe" is an atmospheric and relaxing song that evokes a sense of peace and tranquility, while "On the Run", a great song for me, is characterized by being electrifying and frenetic, capable of creating constant feelings of danger and urgency in the listener.
Por otro lado, "Pigs (Three Different Ones)", con un enfoque más político, critica la corrupción y la hipocresía dentro de la sociedad moderna, dejando en evidencia su magistral contenido lírico, mientras que "Time", de mis favoritas del álbum, es una canción introspectiva que, según mi propia interpretación, aborda el tema de la mortalidad y la importancia de aprovechar al máximo el tiempo que tenemos en ésta vida. El álbum culmina con "Eclipse", una canción que sintetiza los temas de la obra y ofrece un mensaje de esperanza para quienes aspiramos a cierta redención, sin duda alguna es un 10/10 en su totalidad.
On the other hand, "Pigs (Three Different Ones)", with a more political approach, criticizes corruption and hypocrisy within modern society, leaving in evidence its masterful lyrical content, while "Time", one of my favorites of the album, is an introspective song that, according to my own interpretation, addresses the theme of mortality and the importance of making the most of the time we have in this life. The album culminates with "Eclipse", a song that synthesizes the themes of the work and offers a message of hope for those of us who aspire to some redemption, it is undoubtedly a 10/10 in its entirety.

Para finalizar, el maravilloso "The Dark Side of the Moon", con sus casi 50 millones de copias vendidas a lo largo de la historia, es un álbum excepcional que, medio siglo posterior a su lanzamiento, sigue dando de qué hablar y siendo esencial para todo buen apreciador musical gracias a su sonido distintivo y sus letras atemporales que continúan inspirando a miles de músicos y oyentes de todo el mundo, como nosotros, pues se fundamenta en virtud de ser un álbum que debe escucharse en su totalidad para apreciar su belleza y complejidad, además de ser un testimonio aún vigente y fidedigno de la habilidad de Pink Floyd, como pioneros de todo un género y referentes de influencia en artistas de otros estilos, como David Bowie, Radiohead o inclusive los metaleros de Dream Theater, para crear música que sigue trascendiendo en el tiempo y el espacio a través de experiencias sensoriales únicas brindadas por una banda, en mi sensata opinión, sencillamente adelantada a su época.
Finally, the wonderful "The Dark Side of the Moon", with its almost 50 million copies sold throughout history, is an exceptional album that, half a century after its release, continues to be essential for every good music appreciator thanks to its distinctive sound and timeless lyrics that continue to inspire thousands of musicians and listeners around the world, like us, because it is based on the fact that it is an album that must be listened to in its entirety to appreciate its beauty and complexity, besides being a still valid and reliable testimony of Pink Floyd's ability, as pioneers of an entire genre and influential referents in artists of other styles, such as David Bowie, Radiohead or even the metalheads of Dream Theater, to create music that continues to transcend time and space through unique sensory experiences provided by a band, in my sensible opinion, simply ahead of its time.
